Tuohy will NOT win NXN

Tuohy appears to be the best American high-school runner ever, and no one else this year does. So I'm going with Tuohy in this one.

Whoever wins baby nationals (NXN) is basically irrelevant.

Footlocker is the big show, and Claudia Lane is the HS GOAT.

OMG! Hard to believe how little people know about this sport and comparisons.

Last year a Nike exec ( the person in charge of NXN ) and I bet... I bet thst Tuohy would win by over 30 sec and Chmiel would be second.

Tuohy will win easily again. Chmiel msy not be second, but no one will be near Tuohy at the mile. Yes, crazier things have happened but this is as sure a bet as one can make.

I am sure that most do not understand what 16:45 at Sunken Meadow means nor 17:14 at Bowdoin, or 13:21 at VCP

She's an overcoached, overtrained HS girl with a huge aerobic base and zero speed whatsoever. Burn-out is all but guaranteed. She'll fall harder than Mary Cain, expect retirement by 20.

I would say she is the goat but not the clear one. Injury is tarnishing her legacy this season in my opnion unless she magically came back for FL which i am hoping for.

I graduated in 2012. Since then I've seen about 5 different "GOATS"

My thoughts is that Mary Cain and Ephraimson are far above the others just off of track alone.

Add Grace Ping to the list. She won Griak and finished second at the NB National 5k in 7th grade to Kelati.

At age 15, Tuohy is faster in the 5000m than both Cain and Efraimson as present day adults. Even her sophomore mile time (which isn't her primary event) of 4:33 would have been competitive against them.

I'm a Cali guy and Claudia Lane was an incredible talent to watch, running faster than past champions like Sarah Baxter, Jordan Hasay, Sara Bei Hall, and even the great Amber Trotter.

That being said, there's no mistake: Katelyn Tuohy was the superior runner last year. Comparing times from the runners they both competed against last year, I estimate Claudia Lane was in 16:56-17:08 shape at NXN. Tuohy ran 16:44.

Efraimson ran 4:24 like 2-3 months ago I believe just saying. Also Mary Cain ran that 15:45 simply to get a qualifier. I remember because it was slightly faster than my xc pr. That on top of running 1:59,8:58,4:04, and finishing HS with a World Junior title makes her the best. To add on that Efraimson ran faster than cain at 1500m and also ran 9:00.

I am from California too so I am biased when I say Claudi Lane. Her records were on more prestigious courses to me. I could be wrong there but still.

Tuohy's strength is at 5000m, not 1500/mile. Her best 3000m time is only slightly slower than Cain's best (and I believe hers was run against HS competition while Cain's was not.) If we compare XC PR times on the same course, it goes:

Manhattan Invitational - 2.5 miles

Tuohy 13:21

Cain 14:03

Bowdoin - 5000m

Tuohy 16:45

Cain 17:40

Pretty sizeable difference between the two.

And yeah man, I know, Lane blew away Mt. SAC and Woodward park records. It's crazy to think of the times she ran. Subtract about 10-20 seconds from them and THAT'S how fast Tuohy could run them. Pretty crazy to think about.
