The field in this race was of much higher quality than the 2011 World's 1500m Final. In 2011, the leading time for the season was Morgan Uceny's 4:00.06. You can't take people's personal bests from different years, especially when they came several years after the race in question. Seasonal bests are what matters. This field was LOADED and Jenny took down some all-time greats.
loaded? aragawi has done nothing for a long time. Genze ran one great 1500 in the winter and not since. Depends how much 1500m credit you give her for a 1428 5000m. Martinez peaked early. hassan has been running well. Rowbury ran a typical anonymous race.
If you want to start picking and choosing, then this field wasn't nearly as loaded you see seem to be arguing.

Next week in Zurich is going to be very interesting. How will Jen do against Hassan without Genze to run Hassan's legs off like she did today? Will Hassan go back to her old back of the pack and kick strategy? Does Aregawi have enough left to defend her Diamond title? If she does she should probably use Genze's strategy and force Hassan to move up sooner.
Jen doesn't have the speed to jump out fast like Genze did. In a sense Genze assisted her.
A real high stakes finale. I'm not sure how it will unfold.
Hassan died badly on the final 100. Genzebe was struggling for at least the last 200.

The women's 1500 this year might be even more exciting than the men's HJ, which hasn't quite matched its early season expectations. Bondarenko is amazing, though.
Too bad Bolt isn't racing a peak-form Gatlin and Blake pussed out this year.
Men's 800M has been fun. But agree with the others that say the women's 1500 is finally in the spotlight and it's GREAT! Obviously great, as an American, to see Jenny doing well too.

It's not that Gatlin won't race Bolt. The race directors won't let him. Zurich said some bs about having some standard that they won't let people with 4 year drug bans to compete. Bottom line is that they know that if Bolt races Gatlin now, Gatlin wins, and it might not even be close. They seem to be protecting the Bolt aura because it brings in fans. To hell with real competition.
I think Jenny will be racing for the AR (3:57.12) in Zurich. If nobody else is there to take the pace out, she will. I would expect them to ask for 3:57 pace.

Jenny definately has the freshest legs right now, one advantage to having the nice training block in there while everyone else was running commonwealths, African and European Champs.
Just heard from someone at the track and they said there was a strong headwind on the last 300m straight. Could have factored in the slower last lap. And they said the wind died a bit during the final stretch.
If usatf tested for meds and prescription pills, Simpson and Coburn would be out of the sport. Trust me, I know.
They test for everything. Non-banned prescription pills are permissible as long as the athlete reports them in advance.

Usatf tests for many drugs and many they don't test for because the costs to conduct such testing would be astronomical. There most certainly are athletes out there in every sport taking these hidden prescription medications. It's reality. Sorry.

I'm sure you're right about Bolt/Gatlin. As the Brojos constantly bemoan on here, this really is one of the reasons the sport isn't more popular--the biggest stars rarely race each other outside of championships, and even then the field is diluted by the various different events, as well as countries only having three runners each in any event.
I really hope Jenny can get the AR in Zurich. I know she has the fitness for it. What a phenomenal year for her!
