1st: I'm not offering any excuses. He came up short. It happens. Running all-out to one's fitness level ain't easy. BUT, and this is a BIG BUT, he went for it! Finally, the confusion on what the actual objective is now is finally dissipating, the focus on the task at hand is getting clearer, which is a huge part of the battle. No more 'practicing tactics' mumbo-jumbo, because if you repeat that too many times, you may actually start believing it. NO! This year WAS about chasing the records! Start repeating it, over and over, Alberto/Galen. Quit apologizing for it. RUN FAST! WIRE TO WIRE! That is the best strategy for Galen in a 5000m. If he just accepts it, then its a matter of execution. So he came up short this time. But at least now he knows what he is going after.2nd: I never said he was in 12:40 shape. His 10000m AR time translates to ~12:52. That is the target he should be time-trialing for when he steps on the 5000m starting line. Kiss The Ring Galen, and then, like the slogan says, JUST DO IT!!!

This thread is hilarious. I've never seen so many excuse piled into one thread. Let's review
a) twins, man, TWINS. Guy must be exhausted!!
(lol. As if he is losing ANY sleep dealing with the kids. Guarantee his wife or family is handling virtually all of that)
b) Jet Lag! (yes, Rupp has never raced overseas before)
c) He's doing a double peak season (um, what race is that second peak for?)
d) he went it or man, HE WENT FOR IT PRE STYLE and of course he died (so he got paced for awhile, did some leading, and....no one can handle that?? How many WR's have been set where the guy leads much of the 2nd half of the race??!)
e) he's rusty. (this is a guy known for not racing for awhile and coming back very sharp)
C'mon, he got his a$$ kicked, period. Where was that low 12:40's that so many said he was capable of?
Rupp has had a stellar career. He doesn't need to apologize for a bad race. But stop with the excuses. He got his a$$ handed to him. it happens. But he's NOT capable of a low/mid 12:40's like are routinely told here. Not gonna happen.
