and im not talking about the "born to walk" ultra athletes. Im talking about the guys who run 50 or 100 miles very fast. do they need to complete long runs that are a similar duration to what those races will be?
Virtually no 50-100 mile ultra runner is running that entire distance let alone what most of you would consider fast. They're stopping and walking a good portion of it, especially when the terrain is unfriendly.
