I love my coach. Have worked with him for over 4 years at this point. I trust him to periodize my training, put together a good group of dudes, and I know he has my best interests at heart. I'm looking to run 2:35-40 ish in my first marathon (although a result like 2:45, and one I'll be disappointed with) isn't out of the question. He swears by building up to a 3 hour long run, and (I'm running NYC) we've been doing them every other week for the best part of the last month and a half. Usually, we do 2 hour long runs (say when training for a half). So I'm running 23-25 miles every other Sunday. Note that this is all done at an easy pace; long run workouts also exist (and we alternate between LR and a 2 hour workout). Total volume isn't that high; I'm currently at about 80 mpw with no doubles.
I just have doubts. Someone tell me what to think, or offer words of advice. Other parts of the plan include long tempos every week (usually an hour at MP) or a 40-60 min progression with some intervals at LT after. Easy runs are about an hour, but I've been stretching them to 70 mins.
