Just a fantastic run by Kerr in heat. You see how Nordas, a 3:29 runner, was struggling, while Kerr's just chilling. Kerr is at least in 3:27 low shape and he has a faster speed than Jakob. I can't see how Jakob or any one stands a chance.
Lol. Did you not exist when JI ran a 3:26 a couple weeks ago for the 4th fastest time ever?
This quite ridiculous reasoning. Longer stride or more air time is not an indicator of greater efficiency, if anything, it is the opposite. Jacob and Josh have different running styles. Josh may win the gold, but it has nothing to do with "reduce drag with the ground contact forces" LOL
Sorry I know my stuff, I'm an RF Physics King btw. Longer stride always beats shorter stride in general AT CONSTANT EFFICIENCY between highly conditioned high performance athletes, not talking about amateurs persons who overstride instead.
Usain Bolt's sprint records were all achieved with some of the lowest number of steps taken to the finish line because his stride just covered more real estate each stride, you feeling me sir????
Longer stride and less steps taken to the finish line can increase biomechanical efficiency not because your legs are long but because if you bound from one foot to the other further (not higher) you spend more time in the air and naturally tend to spend least time on the ground. You preferably don't want your feet to hit the ground if it's possible because it slows you down and generates a ton of inefficiency but since your feet must hit the ground due to gravity then the next best option is to hit the ground with the least contact time which depends on speed of travel and extend of stride length, you feeling me??????
An example, is it more efficiency to travel through air by plane or on the roads with wheel tyres????
Correct answer: plane because plane doesn't contact the ground and the ground friction is always infinitely larger than air friction duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You failed Physics or something sir????? And trying to gaslight me right?????
Learn from the best that's me Khamis!!!!!
Physics question for you khamis - how would a runner go forward if they were not touching the ground with their feet?
I am a huge Jakob Ingebrigtsen fan, and he looked great. But Kerr, his gait and kick is going to be tough. I hope Jakob has a plan. Dude is gonna’ have to run a 3:25 high/3:26 low i think to even stand a chance.
Many have compared to Jakob to El G and Kerr to Lagat/Ngeny and if we are to learn from that, there's a lesson with the Athens 1500m final in 2004.
El G came through 800 in, like, 2:01.9 and then dropped like a 55 and a 53 or so (for 700 to 1100 and 1100 to 1500).
It worked, though BARELY, to beat Lagat by 0.12 seconds -- just a hair.
Of course, it's winner takes all, so we recall El G as stomping on Lagat to claim his rightful 1500m gold and solidify his GOAT status.
But three things:
- It was kind of a tossup -- Lagat edged in front of him on the homestretch, but El G fought back and won a very tight finish
- El G did not try to run a 3:26 to win
- the "next guy" was Rui Silva in that race, who had the fastest final 800m but couldn't quite catch El G and Lagat by the finish
Not sure if Jakob is taking any notes from that approach (I'm guessing not), but it's an interesting historical case study.
Here are some splits from that race as posted on a thread from 2007:
00 60.42 Songkok (El G 5th)
0700 1:47.3 El G (Silva -0.7) 0800 2:01.93 (61.91) El Guerrouj 1100 2:42.2 El G (Silva -1.1) 1200 2:55.21 (53.28) El Guerrouj 1500 3:34.18 (38.97) El Guerrouj
You could run your last 800m in 1:45.20 and you would still lose to El Guerrouj in the Olympics... ask Lagat.El Guerruoj's last 800m at Athens, 1:45.19 (53.28/51.91)The top level 1500m runners of the world make running sub-1:...

If that's the case, put your life savings into gambling for it. But you won't because you are a loser, loser.
