Just a fantastic run by Kerr in heat. You see how Nordas, a 3:29 runner, was struggling, while Kerr's just chilling. Kerr is at least in 3:27 low shape and he has a faster speed than Jakob. I can't see how Jakob or any one stands a chance.

Nordas is not a 3:29 runner this year
I’m not watching the races, and these posts are informative. Thanks guys!
The BBC in its wisdom not showing the 3rd heat live. They'll "come back with a recap shortly".
Kerr wasted more energy. Not really a good showing
It was the first round, man

I think that was his point
did Oli Hoare not qualify? or George Mills? these seem like major upsets

All of today's non-qualifiers go into the repechage round tomorrow. The top 6 in that race move on to the semis.
I like Ingebrigtsen race better. Complete control. Jog in the park

you realize, of course, Jakob jogged in the first 100m and then surged into the group, and in the last 200m he almost got boxed in and ran wide with another surge. He should've wasted more energy than Kerr.

It’s worth noting Kerr ran the fastest last 300 somewhat unnecessarily at 39.0. With a day off tomorrow, your mileage will vary on if not letting off the last 100 more was a mistake.
Kerr would have had way harder training sessions than that . Made a good field look ordinary . Jakob didn't have a race at all .

I mean Nordas and Komen didn’t look like they were at top gear because it’s a heat after all. Not saying Kerr was either,
Yeah, cutting away before GB's second best 1500m medal hope runs his heat with Jakob, arguably the biggest star of the sport. Clever broadcasting...
Kerr looked really good. Jakob seemed to be trying to make some sort of point. Hoare looked heavy legged. McSweyn ran as expected (actually Spencer looked the best of the Aussies). Kessler looked the most composed. Hocker looked to have had to run harder he may have expected but did qualify for the semis. Nuguse didn't look to be in last years form but is in the semi as well. Tim looked good but not showing his cards yet. Girma looked good.
Girma is pretty intriguing. He looked like the next great 800/15 guy in 2022. Trains with Laros sometimes and I think similarly coached by Lewandowski’s brother. He has gotten better at the 1500, but static at the 800. Hasn’t popped thd big time in the 1500 and looked competitive if a bit overmatched in Gold/Silver meets. But the talent was on display with that strong kick
