My theory is that Rupp is also giving guidance to smith on this as him and Nico are that of the same cloth. No kick them surprisingly finds it at the perfect time. I’m sure Rupp knows plenty about having to develop speed since he consistently got dropped by Mo.

Rather than finding a kick, Young has improved his fitness and Rupp did the same thing. Young could kick even faster off of 7:45 pace and not at all off of 7:35.

This exactly, I’m sure they went about it 2 separate ways Rupp ran 800s till he ran like 1:48 or something. Idk if Nico could follow that the same way

Saw him drunk AF at a Club dancing after the meet. Glad to see some runners having fun the bars/clubs during races. Very chill guy

Idk about him never having a kick, it’s just not been as good as his competitors most of the time. He closed in 58 to run 8:40 in the 3200 his junior year of HS.

Hocker won the NCAA mile and 3K title within an hour of each other a couple years back, winning times were "only" 3:53 and 7:46, but still really impressive imo. In the mile, each of his final seven laps got progressively faster, and he closed in 25.x in both races.60 -

I’m a big fan of Nico. that dude is super tough and people are crazy to say he doesn’t have a kick. He will be one of the American Goats when it is said and done.
