That was awesome. I wasn’t expecting it and when he pulled up on the backstretch I got pumped for him. Everyone who thinks he can only have a future on the roads should think twice now.
Also a big run and strong finish for Brian Musau in second (7:38.04). He looks like a danger on the track the next few years.
Seemed like the commentator was expecting too much from Craig Engels.

Awesome for Nico! I think we’ve gotta see him in the 10,000 this season, but that sort of finish is a great sign. Musau I wonder if he doesn’t get signed quickly. If I were the OAC, I’d seriously contemplate it if you get him and think he’s got the maturity to be a pro with some good mentors alongside. The improvement is off-the-charts - 13:50s in Kenya, 3;50 losing by 10 seconds to 8th at NCAAS XC and 7:38 in less than a year? Hasn’t turned 18 officially…

Very impressive. Just jumped up a whole level. This is the kind of improvement i was thinking Hunter was going to be making but glad to see Nico is actually doing it
Winning with a 15s PB and a new kick? This is the exact kind of result I was hoping for from Nico. Been about a year since his last really good race, so it's awesome to see him all the way back. 1s off the CR with a 27.4 last lap means he's a favorite for the title. He's seemingly always in the mix at NCAAs, but never has the kick to win. This race showed a kick I didn't realize he had, and it's after XC, so I assume he'll be a bit sharper come track season.

The shoes. It's the damn shoes. He runs 7:49 without the shoes.

6 seconds per mile for the shoes, lol give me a break. Not sure about this particular race, but Nico usually doesn't even wear the shoes anyway. So I guess ill convert his 13:11 5K to 12:53 using your ridiculous conversion

Nico actually got six place at NCAA cross this year in a pair of non-super shoes, The 2016 release Adidas Avanti
