Maybe Allie will run the Houston half...she's clearly fit!
Definitely fit for Allie - I could see her running 1:18 for the half!
She ran 1:11:25 in a half in Feb while training for something else (e.g. she was doing a hard effort training run). Who knows how she would do now but 1:18 is pretty pessimistic.
I don't think the order is going to change at all in the last 1K with the exception of Garces and Scheffler. This could go to either of them. They both keep surging and responding perfectly to each other.
Allie O had too much left! She looked great and could have made the team with a different race distribution.
She did it again, exactly what she said she wasn't going to do and that was be too afraid to go with the pace early on. She could have easily hung on for a spot on the team if she just trusted herself. This is where running with a team or others can help you with confidence. They say you are not supposed to compare yourself with others but it does give you a good gauge of where your fitness actually is and can give you the confidence to push.
Another crying, disappointment video on deck.
Easy to say this in hindsight, but who knows? She could have gone with the leaders and paid the price later in the race, ending up far below 8th. We’ll never know. Still a fantastic effort. Hopefully it boosts her confidence. That last 1k was no joke.

She saw who was in the lead pack and got a sudden case of imposter syndrome and immediately decided in her head that the pace was too hot for her. It's a problem that she still needs to fix; the believing in herself part. I am being hypercritical because I am a fan of Allie. I know she can make it back on a team and it just frustrates me to see a race like this. I guarantee it's going to frustrate her as well and I'd bet she would 100% agree with my assessment.
So could anyone enter this 2k race? There were guys back in 6:30-7:00 for their time.
Last was 8:57. There's no qualifying times needed for XC Nationals. I think that's good. There is plenty of room on the course and it helps keep the event viable (and maybe increase the prize purse a bit). Nobody was getting in anyone's way so it worked great. Only issue was fans were crossing the course as the back pack was coming through around 3k into the women's race. XC is awesome.
I hate to say it but I think it is only a matter of time before she gets popped. Never really did much in her entire career and then all of a sudden she takes 5th at Worlds and makes the 2K team as a pure 800m runner over a bunch of milers including Mackay? I don't buy it.
You’re an idiot… the 4x NCAA xc all-American does well in xc and you accuse her of doping
Raleigh area for the win. 2 recent UNC grads winning on the men’s side. Morris a Puma athlete training in Raleigh and NC state runner on team for ladies 10k.
Just a shame he never put it together in a global champs, and often had his inferior event (10K) as his only race or first one. Just like Solinsky and A. Goucher wondering what might’ve been.
I see Kincaid differently. Solinsky and Goucher were big stars at the high school and college level, and they had high expectations as a result. To me, Kincaid is someone who greatly exceeded expectations anyone would have reasonably had of him coming out of college. Being a two-time U.S. champ and two-time Olympian is something I think he can be proud of.
Exactly. Pure guts and hard work. yes and talent too
