Now the bashers will move the goal posts from their idiotic predictions. They will try to justify their weeks of bashing by saying that he has so much more untapped potential if he would only listen to their wisdom and do what they say.

Great effort Seth!
I mean his goal was to otq, which he missed by a few minutes, but okay. No one here said he wasn’t a good runner, just that his goal was too lofty for his training.
You know what they say, a PR is a PR
Okay but did he OTQ?
His original PR came in his debut marathon where he ran a huge positive split. Went out in 67 and finished 223. And he has only improved by one minute? His fitness isn’t any better. The only thing that has improved is more consistent pacing during the race.
Will be interesting to see where to from here. OTQ is a bridge too far. He’s 37, 6th kid on the way. He cut out everything he possibly could which is not a sustainable way of living. He can try again with more speed work but there are no guarantees that just means it pans out with weather, travel, etc.
Maybe TL should give him the speech Marcellus Wallace gives Butch in Pulp Fiction.
Most (it is letsrun after all) posters here aren't "hating" - there's two reasons people are interested in Seth more than most others in this race:
1. He has real potential to not just scrap an OTQ, but to comfortably do so. Love or hate the filming, his business is built around him training, and he clearly has the phsyiological potential to OTQ - so two big boxes ticked for reaching that goal.
2. With that potential & environment, the evidence (training and road race results) suggest he's massively squandering it.
Combine both those issues with a personal taste for his videos, and the fact he's advising others on how to train - a running forum is and should be interested in discussing him.
He ran a PB today, and he ran faster than I likely ever will. However I know I'm not "hating" on Seth - I just wish he'd approach this smarter to get the outcome he could reach.
Ah yes, DGR, where it’s okay to loudly proclaim your goals and miss them. You can talk the talk, but you don’t have to walk the walk, and anyone who takes note is a hater. As long as you did your best! Constructive criticism? Oh no, we don’t do that here, you’re just a hater. My boy came home with a finishers medal and a pb!
5minutes off of his target time.
Yet you know SJD & DGR are going to spin this as a huge win.. I wish people bought into when I bs them this much

this is a great point.
all that theorising, all those master training plans and vlogs. 0 difference in fitness.
So he trained over 300 hours (about 16 weeks of 20hours) and all he got was 1min of his blowed up first marathon...
Look how well Nienke executed her race... Take note Seth...
How would she fare against Jornet in seven weeks?
They could all get smoked by Remi Bonnet. Been in good form on the snow.
She ran her debut mararhon in december in valencia in 2:26:34
And now followed up with a 2.22.51
I let the results be the judge of the training...
Technically it seems he hasn't improved in fitness at all since his debut of 2:23 where he split 1:06 which is probably still the more impressive performance.
He probably could have run 2:19 with even pacing in his debut, today, the best he could have done is probably 2:21 if he paced for it given what he showed.
So his time has improved 1 minute from horrible pacing to okay pacing but his fitness has actually regressed during all his wacky mad scientist training since his debut.
Lots of downvotes, looks like DGR stans have infiltrated LRC
Haha yeah attack of the stans. Their butter has melted and they’re seething.
Wow great display of childish behaviour.... Talking about haters 🙈
Think this might be the closest prediction...
Pleasantly surprised, good job Seth. Was thinking sub 2:25 was probable with good pacing but definitely not a PR so he showed me, and most of the thread looks like.
Just goes to show how important that aerobic base is (and talent but what can you do about that). And as cheesy as his sayings are, "turning that doorknob". That's 95% of the battle for most of us. Probably not enough to ever run an OTQ without more intelligently planned training, but enough to run pretty damn fast
But thank god he split the half closer to 1:10 than 1:07, can you imagine how catastrophic that would have been...really if he had stubbornly stuck to his race plan another 2:30+ would have been guaranteed
