Girls (as in multiple) running 4:36? He had a single girl run 4:37, not girls. He did a good job with a LOT of talented kids. We've all seen the threads about the embarrassment of riches he was blessed to coach based on the middle school studs that came to Newbury during his tenure.
Why was it that before the Youngs and Sahlmans came, he barely squeaked into the State meet one year and didn't qualify the next year. The GOAT can't get a team to state meet after coaching them for 2 years? Soles had his team to NXN in his first year and were the National champs in year 2. I would call that the GOAT over a guy who couldn't get his team to even qualify for the state meet in year 2.

High school -> UCLA -> unemployed. I guess some may agree that being unemployed is an upgrade over coaching at UCLA.
Correct on the personality and hair. I hope you realize most coaches are thankful they don’t have either of those. You do know hair gel is an option available to all, but utilized by few (since the early aughts) by choice.

Sort off true. He has proven himself at the HS level. At the pro levels he might be well suited for mid ranked athletes or those who are struggling. Here he would have a canvas to prove or disprove himself. The problem is, to many have worked their butt off to poison his well.
