So Fisher is better than Woody and Klecker. We already knew that. Fisher ran pretty smart too. But that 7:28 is certainly over 7:30 in the older spikes so this record, while nice, does NOT impress me in the way it appears to impress some of you who are not tuned in to what is really going on here.
Did you see who he beat today? Your are underestimating Fisher and overestimating the spikes. They all wore the spikes and he spanked a lot of very elite runners that many would have said he would never beat. Fisher may not be the best in the world, but it's not like any of these guys is far better. In my book, that is super impressive. The US has a legit global medal threat in any and all races 3000-10000.
Can someone post a link to something that definitively states that Getachew is DSD? I googled it and all that I saw was speculation from people that are not sure.
For the obvious reason (privacy) there is no "definitive" statement about Getachew's genetic status. Only Getachew or her team could release that information.
All we have is circumstantial evidence. In addition to what you saw today, she is behaving like a DSD athlete who does not want to take T suppressing hormones. She has changed from the 800, where DSD athletes must suppress, to the steeplle, where they do not have to suppress.
It is also curious that she won last year's Ethiopian 800 trials by a second and a half, but was not named to the team.
Whether you think the circumstantial evidence -- her appearance, her speed, her changing distance -- is enough to prove she's DSD is your call.
Say what you will about Coburn, the woman has guts.
She has been relevant on the world scene for 11 years in a very difficult event. Hard to say she is done when she just won US title #10 and is still the fastest in the US this year. No respect.

Last year Getachew dropped their 800 PB from 2:00 down to 1:56 800 in just two months.
And that 1:56 won the Ethiopian Olympic Trials. But Getachew was prohibited from competing in the Olympic Games.
Now Getachew refuses to run either the 800 or 1500. The only other 1:56 (or faster) 800 runners in history that have done that are Semenya and Niyonsaba.

All about you eh?
Yooou is most likely a different username from the one you use most often to post.

And Fisher smoked Krop who cost him a WC medal in the 5k

Yooou are NOT impressive.
This is not about Yooou. This is about Fisher. Let us celebrate him BUT he is not at the level of Lagat. Not yet anyway. Fisher was crushed by a guy who had been 13:25 before this year. Fisher is going after weak US records with the spikes. It is a smart thing to do. He is that good.
That was amazing. She had a PB of 9:19 at the start of the year, a disappointing World's and now is down to 9:07 and third in a DL. I never thought the UK would have a woman capable of getting a top 3 in the steeple at a DL. Hopefully, her and Aimee Pratt can spur each other on for the next couple of years the same way Coburn and Frerichs have.
On the race generally, it was pretty cowardly to ask for a pace and then sit off it. It screws up everyone else's race if the star of the field gets to decide the pace then does that.
I seriously have no idea what a good 1000 time is. Murphy 3rd Kessler 6th. What do you all think of that?
According to WA scoring tables: Wightman 2.13.88 ~= 800 1.43.95 = 1500 3.32.77 Murphy 2.15.73 = 1.45.35 = 3.35.87 Hobbs 2:16.46 ~= 1.45.92 = 3.37.11
I don't think the IAAF/WA Conversion points are very generous to 1000m performances tbh. Its not that rarely run, but sub 2:14.0 is an excellent performance. I'd say someone needs to be able to run both sub 1:44 and a 3:32 at the time of running 2:13.8, but seen as a single performance in that event I'd say its 'worth' compared to each of the other events is more like a 1:43 low or a 3:31 flat.
