We also will be doing a live watch praty and reaction show starting 5 minutes before the race (so 1:55 pm ET) and then going on for as long as we need to afterwards:
the hate on this event is so embarrassing. you're telling on yourselves that you're all such sad losers. how dare they bring celebrities into the sanctity of track and field?? a little showmanship?? this sport is supposed to be boring and you're supposed to like it anyway because you're better than the average hobby jogger!!! this reaction underscores exactly why track isn't popular.
bro we're on the same team. I think it should be JAMMED in there. We saw how paris responds to track during the olympics last summer. Why are there like 200 people in there and not 20,000+???
Isn't this a single 4 minute exhibition? I can see why a whole track meet with real races would draw more fans than this event
Rooting for Faith. But I don't think she has the raw speed. Even assuming pacing's perfect and she's capable of a 1:55 800 right now, that's not enough.
It sucks that they built tiny stands and then have the presenters say LOOK AT ALL THE ENERGY (as they pan to 200 people sitting down drinking wine) and LITERALLY compare it to a beyonce concert.

Good point. Nike should have turned this into an interactive meet where fans could try to keep up with a 4:00.00 wavelight for as long as possible. I recall Kipchoge's past events had a treadmill set to 2-hour marathon pace. Why not the same here? Or make this a "Festival of Miles" leading up to the big event with open miles beforehand set to different paces.

Why did they not do it in conjunction (as a special add-on) to an actual track meet?
Maybe all the other times at that track meet would show up sus due to a short track??
These people can't honestly believe what they're saying about the male pacers right? What about the fastest men? Who is supposed to pace them? Cheetahs? Aliens?
tell me you're a straight man without telling me you're a straight man
Yeah, I know I'm being crass but it's nothing against Faith. It's just annoying that the storyline and announcers haven't evolved past the point where that's the biggest talking point. I think it's reductive of Faith and reductive of the sport to make such a big deal out of it. In very few other sports would they have to resort to that for a star of her magnitude. Its just a lazy storyline and Faith and the sport deserve better.
Most people (especially the non-pro runner commentators) do NOT understand what a 4-minute mile is. Only if you've ran and felt that pace before do you truly realize the magnitude of the 4-minute barrier.

I support the attempt, even with all the tricks, but if I were in Paris I would rather watch the livestream than the hassle of attending live. If it were a totally legal record attempt, I might attend live.
I think it's free for spectators, but you can occasionally hear protests and sirens outside the stadium, so they are probably being selective of who they allow in to avoid protestors sneaking in as "fans" and then rushing the track to disrupt the attempt.

Festival of miles with people getting to try nike spikes and celebrate the distance with this being the crescendo of the night would be EPIC

C’mon on out, downvoter. Any legit event of this caliber would could through the process of bringing in an independent body to verify that the track is not short. They would welcome that certification.
