My prediction... he's already capable of 2:03. The course takes off 1 minute. The shoes take off 1 minute. The pacers take off one minute. That's very close to the 2:00 barrier. I'm an optimist and I'll be rooting for the 1:59xx, but I think he'll fall short.

That's not sport. Everyone should have learned from the doping scandals over the last 40 years that it's not sport if you achieve mainly because you have access to an external aide that few others have access to. Sport is supposed to be about who has the most talent, works the hardest or smartest, etc. not about who has access to and/or whether our sports equivalent of a 'cheat code' in a video game actually works.
So Eliud, you are one of our favorite athletes but tonight we are rooting against you. The sub-2 hour marathon, if it ever happens, should be one of the most celebrated achievements in the history of sports, not another performance enhanced mark that needs an asterisk.

Colm need not worry, Kipchoge will run, but not under 2 hours. Slowing down a mere 8 seconds from the 10 mile world record pace (4:26) at half way and then doing it again, no way.
With everything being perfect, a 2:02 flat would still be impressive, regardless, it's not an actual marathon road race.
How amazing would it be if they faked the stream? lol they used CGI of eliud running 4:30 pace for 2 hours.

Well,there are a ton of people on this site that think the moon landing was faked, and that the Earth is flat, so I'm sure no matter what happens, there will be a large conspiracy group that thinks the whole thing was faked.

This is awesome. They're actually giving us profiles of the runners--not putting them in a tiny box while they show thousands of regular people and some guy in a banana costume. And youtube looks great on my TV compared to most live streams.
