She ran 10.87 when she’s in 10.6 shape. Rain let up. Almost no wind. Wet track doesn’t affect that much. It was a choke. You can see it right out of the blocks. She froze. Literally.
How could you possibly know this? Seriously. When did she last run 10.6x? She ran off that in trials and then absolutely choked in the 200 in trials so that ain't mental if she won the 100.
She ran 10.65 with a slight negative wind at Worlds last August in Budapest. At trials she ran 10.71
Haha Americans think she was in 10.6/10.7 shape haha those Eugene times on that ridiculously fast track that should be illegal got you fooled as you will see when "9.8 Noah" gets rolled again by 3 meters.
She ran 10.6 in Budapest. If you are going to disparage at least get your facts right. It's not that difficult.
Really wish I could "choke" my way to an Olympic silver. What did Sha'Carri do to make so many of you take joy in this? Because she has opinions? You could see that Alfred was a lot better in the semis. She ran 10.7 in the rain in the final. Nobody was even close. It wasn't a bad run for 2nd.

For many of us, we were raised to believe in modesty and humility. It makes it easy to cheer for athletes who do all the right things and show up and perform consistently. Though in fairness the media does make things worse because she clearly has a problem with craving attention almost like a drug addict, and the media constantly caves and feeds that rather than properly covering our other top athletes.
🤡 People can form opinions without having to post their bonafides. If she were so class, she would show up to the presser as a medalist. She knew at the semis that she was getting beat. Anybody watching that heat could see that Alfred’s start, phases and shapes were on point. Richardson is too inconsistent. Before you take on the focus of all of the attention, you better master your craft.
There does seem to be something pathological in her sensitivity, and I don't think it's everyone else's job to treat her differently than others because of it. That said, there are sometimes media members who behave shamefully. All in all, it's not my job to judge her character until she runs for office.
Alfred is a killer and after the semi I very much thought this would happen.
She very well could have medalled last olympics in 2021. People don't remember this but she had a 0.095 second reaction time just like Devon Allen and was DQed. It was just as outrageous, but she was lesser known at the time. Glad she got redemption.
Another sprint even has largely been run since the Devon Allen DQ and the men's and women's 200 data shows that something is amiss with the start reaction times in Eugene.
This was a massive choke job, obviously. Could not handle the pressure of being the odds on favorite and the spotlight that goes with it. Pretty classic case of cracking under pressure, nothing else to it.
All US media has hyped her up with the expectation of gold, so this is obviously a loss.
I do NOT need to be enlightened. You are as bad as you describe her when you label her as “trash.” This dehumanizing of another is the root of much violence perpetrated on our fellow humans. Do better.
Ugh. Shut up. Let’s all agree to permanently bench this haughty, elitist phrase.
Another Asafa Powell? Come on, dude. If you’re going to call other people ignorant, then you shouldn’t make such a terrible analogy. Asafa never won an individual world championship like Sha’Carri has done. Asafa never won an individual Olympic medal like Sha’Carri just did.
Are you not aware that Asafa did not win any because he choked everytime in every final? He had the ability to win gold in some and at least silver after Bolt came on the scene. All it means is that he choked worse than Richardson did . This is not the first time Richardson has choked. If she does not handle her nerves she will continue to do this.
Yes, I’m well aware of why Asafa never won, and that’s why I’m saying it’s not an apt analogy. Sha’Carri has already won a 100m world championship and Olympic medal, two things Asafa never did.
A world championship gold medal and Olympic silver in consecutive years is nothing to sneeze at. Yes, it’s disappointing she didn’t win Olympic gold, but it’s not the disaster you’re making it out to be.
If you’re looking for a disaster, look at Jamaica. After sweeping the women’s 100m medals in Tokyo, they didn’t get a single medal in Paris. It’s the first time they’ve failed to medal in this event since 1988!

I mean, yes, responding to & expecting this exact comment. The line some of ya'll take with this woman is weird. We idolize athletes in other sports who have much bigger egos. We have very few popular T&F athletes. She seems to have matured a lot over the last few years. You're out here comparing her to a drug addict. That's wild.
It seems like SAFP was wrongfully (or messily) denied entry & then was a DNS. Richardson was in the same situation & got to the start line. That should say something about her.
Alfred ran an incredible race, all things considered, that race would have been close even if Sha'Carri was at her best. There was a little something in her body language which suggested she was feeling the weight of the moment. There is a little nerve calming/mind clearing routine Sha'Carri does before ever race, that she didn't do because I think she was feeling overwhelmed and forgot. With all of that said, there is no shame in getting silver, but she definitely choked.

I agree 100%. I saw the same thing; she didn't look ready. That being said, when you talk the talk, you better walk the walk. Didn't she proclaim, "I'm not back, I'm better". Well? When Nike locks you in for 5 years at 20 million smokes, NBC has you billed alongside Simone Biles and Katy Ledecky, Olay and Verizon also throw money at you, and you place 2nd. That doesn't go over well in the world of endorsements. On an earlier post someone asked, "Who has a greater value, SR or SML?" I jumped in said SML. I got a lot of down arrows. I don't think SR has the mental bandwidth to be the face of USA Track and Field. If SML wins the gold she will be a marketing juggernaut the next 4 years. Don't get me wrong, SR is a great sprinter, and a silver medal in the Olympics is awesome, for anyone EXCEPT....Sha'Carri. She NEEDED to win the Gold Medal to validate herself both as the best 100m sprinter in the world and as marketable athlete. The question is how she is going to bounce back the remainder of this season, and the next 4 years leading to L.A.
The only way she validates how great she is, is to break the WR this summer. This will cool the flames of "Choking" a bit, but not entirely.
She ran 10.8 in the rain off a bad start. Y'all are acting like she didn't make it out of the first round.
There's levels to losing: -Level 1: getting silver in the Olympics -Level 9999: arguing about getting silver in the Olympics on an anonymous message board
