Got himself into a bad spot. Much better tactics by kerr
Not a Kerr fan, admittedly
but i really thought he comitted some fouls on thete today
Nuguse tactics were better than Kerr for 2600 meters. Kerr had to fight way too much to claw around the back and middle of the pack. But Kerr was best when it mattered (he's so strong right now everything else didn't matter, today).
Good for Nuguse to get some championship racing in, because the difference between him and Kerr was that Kerr handled himself much better tactically
I agree with the criticisms of Nuguse’s tactics (I was making them as I watched) but the above is the most important point in my opinion. This is Nuguse’s second global final, and getting more experience there is why he prioritized this race. Just from the lessons he’ll learn from this, I’m more optimistic about him going into the summer, not less.
I thought both 3k winners ran great tactical races. Kerr's was certainly more physical, but he wasn't the only one, and it wasn't outrageous. He did a great job of knowing where he needed to be and when he needed to be there, and then got it done.
Not very comparable in terms of physicality. Elle had a couple taps in the back if anything. Josh was taking it to everyone. Again it’s indoors and nobody gets DQed for that. Even outdoors Katir vs Tim in Oregon, Makhloufi decking people in 2012…They let it get physical, and Yared has to add a little bit of that.
I love Kerr but he was a bit of a bully out there. Anyone see the last time Barega passed him he literally just threw any elbow out to impede him? lol wtf, Jakob better wear football pads when they race.
At the same time this is how I wished Solinsky would have raced. Barega would have knocked Solinsky off the track.
Come on, man! The 1500 at global level is always a bit of a battle. Shoving, barging, getting spiked, it's all in the game. It's even harder indoors
OMG, this is championship racing. You don’t like Kerr pushing, push back. More power to Kerr.
So impressive from Kerr. Perfect racing. But the field more or less handed it to him
Not at all the case. They made the pace weird and he had to get extremely physical many times. Both Hacker and Barega forced him wide. He got boxed/shuffled legally a bunch. If not for some well-placed shoves and his pristine fitness, he’s where Yared was.
If Barega helps Wale to make that a 7:30 race, Kerr has more of a challenge on his hands. Letting him tempo the first 2k made it easy, especially as he's more than capable of handling himself in a pack

Not really because in a slow race where you are at 400 to go is extremely meaningful.
Wow, what can Bol do in the outdoor 400? 48.5? SM should be worried.
I know it won't happen but I'd love to see an alternate universe where Bol full sends training for the 800 to see how she'd do. She seems so strong and relaxed in the latter stage of a 400.

So Kerr could sit in 4th or 5th single file? No not at all. Kerr had to get extremely physical and some of the moves were borderline and almost backfired (nearly went down escaping a box). I think you’ve got this one completely wrong.

I agreed until he literally just threw an arm out to impede Barega when getting passed. Zero reason for it except a dirty move, don’t know why anyone would say that’s championship racing.
Nuguse used to beat Kerr sure but the difference is that Kerr got better and runs with edge. Nuguse may have peaked.
It’s the start of his second full pro year and he just won silver over an Olympic champion who just ran 7:25…he works on his tactics and he’ll be fine. He ran 25.24 for his last lap (going wide) vs. 25.19 for Kerr on the rail. Plenty of great races in his future.
