The distance between where the first recording ends and the second section begins is close to 1.5 miles (I made it to be about 1.52), as Ashley states.
The duration of the first recording is 19 hours 52 minutes and 33 seconds.
The second recording is for 4 hours 6 minutes and 48 seconds.
However, Ashley says she did not stop the Garmin until "a few minutes" after the race. In this case, "a few minutes" is 7 minutes and 4 seconds. At 3 hours and 59 minutes and 44 seconds, her pace drops to zero - the finish line. Using that figure yields 23 hours 52 minutes and 17 seconds of recorded running.
Her time to finish was 24 hours 9 minutes and 34 seconds.
So time not recorded is 17 minutes 17 seconds. Over 1.5 miles, that is about 11:30 mile pace for the missing section. This pace is consistent with recorded paces before and after the unrecorded section.
It was while she ran that portion that her Garmin which was "about to die" recharged. I am not sure 17 minutes would be enough time to re-charge a near-drained Garmin to last another 4+ hours, though?
This Garmin data seems to show that if there were course irregularities, it was not with the unrecorded section.
BUT, both Garmin recordings show "Summary Data: Edited".
A Quora response explaining this states " 'Edited' is normally only shown if you have been into the edit mode and changed some data..."
If so, edited Garmin data is not reliable - and begs the question why it was edited.
