Problem is he faded hard due to the hills and ran slower last 5 miles than the women's winner. He really needs to work on his hill running to gain strength.

That is pushing it. As the women were finishing the camera caught many make stragglers waddling in like any other road race. I would not consider them big leaguers. Could be the Marlins.

Another player who was promoted immediately to the major leagues was billed as the "next" Sandy Koufax, David Clyde, who was drafted 1st overall by the Rangers in 1973. He was 18-0 his senior year in high school, with 5 no-hitters and only allowing 3 earned runs in 148 innings. He never did anything in the majors.

My prediction: He trains like a superhuman madman for the next two months but then has to 'taper off' and gets top 6 at Comrades, but finishes far behind the winner. I think they actually dope test at Comrades and UTMB. Like they dope tested at the Trials. Maybe if he's lucky he'll get 5th at UTMB again after that

you likely crash for 214 easy, which is really a 216 or more under the conditios.

so 215 is not a bad run.

The question becomes how many of the twenty guys that finished ahead of him would beat him in an ultra? How many of the 700 or so people internationally that have run faster would beat him in an ultra? My guess is about half would if they spent six months training for it. Props to him though for becoming a distance running household name with less than elite talent.
