Only if the move to 3-5k triggered new levels of fitness. Most likely it will dampen his raw speed (800m ability) and he won't be able to run that fast. It is also early. He is probably peeking to early.
this is off-shell

I also think he'll smoke Mohammed Farah.
I want to see Faraah's face after being smoked by Kwemoi.
Kwemoi can smoke Asbel right now. Asbel is a joker.............at times.
How he lost the Olympics Rio is just sad. I hope that thing haunts him every day at 2:30 a.m. every other night.
Mohammed Farah will either DNS or DNF if Ronald Kwemoi lines up for the 5K, I guarantee you that. He only enters races he's sure of winning and is an expert at excuses when he doesn't.
Sure of winning? Like the 5k and 10k at every major competition from 2011 till now? That's a silly statement. He even lost the 10k at world's once.
Farah has never said he will run the 5k this summer anyway. Everyone is just assuming. He has only talked about the 10k.
There should be a separate forum just for Calculo so he can argue with himself!
Why he poses questions and possibilities when he already knows the answers as facts is anyone's business.
FYI, running 7 and a half laps at 80 + degrees is not going to have much if any affect on a Kenyan who has been used to those temperatures all their lives.
Yes, Kwemoi looked good and can go faster. No, claiming WR ability based on 1 run where seconds are being taken off for a variety of abstract and non measurable variables is a nonsense.

Kiprop is just not lucky. According to Coach Canova, Kwemoi is focusing on 1500m this year but will also run some other distances as prep for the future when they intend to have him double 1500m/5000m in 2019 and 2000. That said, Kwemoi is in World Record shape and Kiprop knows his goose is roasted. For the first time in more than 8 years, Kiprop is overtaken as the best 1500m runner/miler in the world. Kwemoi will run away from the competition in London, leaving Kiprop for death last! Kiprop wasted 2 Olympic chances of winning two gold medals and a chance at breaking El G' world record and he will leave to regret it for life. Welcome to a new era of Ronald Kwemoi!

In 2012, he pulled his hamstring which is bad luck. In 2016 he did run poorly due to Rosa being arrested and unable to supply him with the good stuff.
Here we go again ..
When will you guys ever learn ?
the same story every single year ..
This dude is gonna smoke Mo , that dude will make him beg for mercy ..blah blah blah blah
Mo Farah is the best distance runner in the world at the moment , its a FACT !
Keep it up tho, this is entertaining AF LOL

This means absolutely nothing until they both actually run a 1500 this season, which neither have so far.

In case you live in North Korea. A gentleman named Eluid Kipchoge just ran 2:00:25 for the marathon distance. He is the best distance runner in the world (Nike shenanigans aside).

Never heard of Bekele?

Why would a North Korean not know that? Even if they don't see it in the media, someone coming back from a trip to China would tell them. Word gets around.

only if he had made move to 3k/5k
another poster said canova is still concentrating him on 1500 & only allowing him to experiment with a 3k & he is not moving to 5k this year
that means his raw speed of 400m may be unchanged
anyhows, just thru maturation as still only 21y, his speed shoud improve anyways from 18 or 19y thru just getting physically stronger & becoming a grown-man, meaning we can assume his speed shoud be no worse than at 18 or 19y
the estimates i gave are relevant
eh ?
i post under 1 handle not 5
because younger, less experienced posters need to be made aware that it shoud be no surprise if Ronnie threatens or runs 1500WR this year
is this a joke ?
the temperature in doha was 90F & with bowl effect concentrating heat on track, it was probably nearer 100F at trackside
Kenyans may be used to training in hot temperatures but that is because they have no choice
it's where they live
for a 3k, ideal temperature for a white guy may be 70F
for a Kenyan i doubt it woud be any higher than 75F
that is ~ 25F too high for a Kenyan to run a 3k
2s difference between 100F & 75F for a 3k is reasonable estimate from my experience of watching/analysing races
a helluva lot faster for 3k at ~ 70 - 75F with pacing thru 2k in 4'54/455 not this rubbish 5'03
is this a joke ?
nonsense is stating 25F too hot a weather has no effect on a 3k
nonsense is considering 5'03 at 2k is ideal when WR was run off 4'53 & Ronnie had brutual, easy finish of 13-flat which is 52-flat pace & he looked around twice during that & eased off at line !!!
using a "perfect race" clocking of 7'22 / 7'23 & his likely 400 speed based on other elite 1500 guys input into a specific calculator makes a 1500WR this year a real possibility...
When Farah moves to the road, he will bring back the marathon to the daus of 2:10-2:08 and will invent a sit and kick marathon.

True 32°c hurts over 3k. But Kenyans are more accustomed to that temperature.
Doha is quite a fast track, because it is early May most are out of shape.
No way he will break the WR this year. But that record will soon be wiped any how.
Hi Calculo, only for informing you that the last 100m of Ronald (it was for me easy to have the exact time because I was in the right position for controlling the splits of the last 400m, having the possibility to see the lines of start of 1500m (so, last 300m), the start of 3000 (so, the last 200m) and the line at the center of the sector of change for the realys (so, the last 100m).
The final lap of Ronald was 54"7 (he was 3-4 meters behind Kejelcha and Ndiku at the bell). During the first 200m of the last lap, he didn't do any real effort, running the first turn in 14"4, and the furlong in 13"8 (200m in 28"2).
Ronald maintained the pace between 200m and 100m from the finish, running in 13"8 again (Kejelcha and Ndiku slowed down, while Paul Chelimo remained near Ronald), and started to sprint at the beginning of the last furlong only.
So, his times are as follows :
last 400m in 54"7
last 300m in 40"3
last 200m in 26"5
last 100m in 12"7
Last year, he won the only 10000m of his life (27'33"94 at the end of November in Japan) with the last 200m in 24"6 (he was behind James Wangari with 200m to go, and gave him a gap of 4.6 seconds).
In Monaco, in the last 100m created a gap of 7 meters with all the best in the world winning 1500m (the only top specialist not there was Centrowitz).
But one thing is to have the possibility to win every race, another thing is to have the tactical ability to do it, and till now he didn't show great tactical ability. In this, he has still to grow, like in self confidence if wants in the future to attack some record (till now, he never showed big attitude to run alone against time).
For trying to grow in any direction, we have to increase his level of knowledge about different situations in different events, and this is the main goal for the current season.
It was an amazing race and I'm eager to see his next ones, so 1500m only at the trials/london?
American men regularly now run sub 13 5k and sun 27 10k but marathons stuck at 2:07. What gives?
