You seem to be unaware of who Yuki is. He was the guy who finished in front of Meb, and every American male, at the NY Marathon.
Definitely "warm" but probably not "hot".
A degree from Oregon isn't worth much anyway last time I checked.

It's SOP. At the biggest track meet of the year - USA's or the Olympic trials - athletes will be entered in multiple events with no intention of ever running more than one event, and then will scratch at the last minute. Or will refuse to talk to the press before the meet or after any bad race. And then there's the whole issue of sponsorship money and appearance fees being kept secret as though we were in the amateur era and they are under-the-table payments.
The USATF could fix all of these things with some rule changes, to make the sport more appealing to fans, but can't get over the amateur athlete mentality. Too many track and field athletes want to be pretend to be professional athletes while acting like they are still in high school, or be able to take selfish actions that may benefit themselves but harm the larger sport.

The winter average is about 21C, or 70F. That is not mild, not "warm". Morning conditions will be mid-low 60s. Temp will not increase by much during a Rio winter day.

According to the usatf website, no one has entered. There is just a list of names, no status, except a few that say "scratched."
He will enter.
The running media (sheep) will all act like that is News

Rupp would be missing out on a fat appearance fee from a major marathon by running for free at the trials.

Perhaps Jeremy Warnier will give him a job at his Jimmy Johh's.
I spoke to Rupp a few weeks ago and he said he was definitely doing WC indoors. Regarding the marathon trials he said "We'll see. We're leaving all options open."
It seems like he is doing both assuming he comes away from the marathon without being too banged up. With his 61 half, the wide open field, and the rumors going around, all signs point to the marathon trials being a go.
I talked to someone who is really active on the letsrun.com message boards and thereby is probably one of the most "in the know" people around. He (she? hard to tell, they aren't a registered user) said that Rupp is running the Olympic trials for the marathon "fo sho"
