Meanwhile, the federations were hiding positives. The way the IAAF is aggressively protecting Radcliffe reminds me of the cycling federation protecting Armstrong.

Of course, she could release her test data to show the world what an elite clean athlete's biological profile looks like.

No, they weren't. Saying, "I've been tested so many times" is not being vocal about anti-doping. Paula brings up the subject often and unprompted and visibly protested when a competitor who had been allowed off an EPO ban was allowed to race in Edmonton. Armstrong and Jones did nothing like that.

There is plenty more that Paula can do to prove that she was clean her entire career. For starters, how about those samples that she volunteered to freeze for future testing? Let's get them tested. Second, she could take a polygraph from an independent expert. I would like to see the results of the question "have you ever blood doped in your life?"

She's a first degree sociopath. Of course she can look people in the eye and lie about not doping.

Do we have to tolerate stuff like this? Some of us come on this site for serious discussions about the sport we love - not to read absolutely vile posts such as this. Is there another site out there where running is discussed in a calm and decent manner?

Did Radcliffe dope? We will almost certainly never have the proof one way or another so people will always believe what they want to believe. My feeling is that she did not take any substances that were explicitly banned at the time but that - like Farah and Rupp etc. - she used every possible legal means to succeed. To some this is unethical, to others merely commitment in the pursuit of excellence. And before anyone starts on the nationality/racial thing; yes I am a Brit and Caucasian to boot but not a massive Radcliffe fan. Utmost respect for her athletic achievements (especially against the clock) but I didn't think she handled the post Athens stuff very well. You can hardly complain about media coverage when you have been more than happy to court coverage by the very same media in the course of lucrative promotional deals. and not every sportsperson who fails to live up to public expectations gets the opportunity to be interviewed by a friend on national TV - as she was by Steve Cram on the BBC a few days after the marathon.

Nah, Lance's famous quotes were always along the lines of 'I've never failed a drug test'.

After reading that article, I cannot name Radcliffe the GOAT. Not even close. She choked at EVERY Olympics. How many excuses were made? I would love to read a similar article on the true GOAT - Catherine Ndereba. GOAT is not about fastest ever. It's performing when there is the most stress on the line.

And what an insult to Deena Kastor. Deena had a great career, perhaps better than Radcliffe in that she ran 2:19 AND Olympic Bronze. Amazing how the physio doesn't explain how she got into sub-2:14 shape because it is not legal.
