In what way is Farah chasing a (European) record different than Bolt chasing a records? You do realize that Farah was chasing the EU 2 mile record, right?

Bottom line is, Bolt only races the competition when he is fit enough to win... just like Farah.

For sure Mo Farah don't has to ask me or someone else from this forum for his racing schedule.

The track season is almost over - what has he done so far? A good 2 Miles and a slow win over 5000m against mediocre competition and an European long distance double whach hardly has big relevance from a global point of view. For me that's just very curious and disapointing. But - as said - for sure he is free to do what he (or his sponsors) wants to do.

But he also shouldn't even be mentioned when there is a discussion about the greatest distance runners in history.

He became a really great runner just in 2011 (some good results also before, yes) and the best position on an all-time list is an 6.

The point in doing Zürich? Maybe to win the most prestigious (at least it was some years back, not sure at the moment) meet on the circuit? So far he hasn't done better than 5th in Zürich.

8:07 is a solid time, he probably could have run a little faster, but not much because was he pushing hard the last 3 laps. Mo could have won that race in a slower time, but he purposely wanted of put up a good time. Btw, for anyone who says Mo is ducking the competition, there is perhaps a small amount of truth to that but nowadays all number one ranked athletes pick their races carefully. Also, for an athlete like Mo, coaches and agents pick their races and a lot of times they skip a meet because the meet cannot afford them. Unless it is a global championship, you are not going to see Mo, Bolt, Felix, Richards, Kiprop and Rudushia at the same meet; there is only so much money to go around.

Back to the race, I was really astonished that he pulled it back to 8:07 after that slow first mile on a windy british track! I though he will run an easy 8:20...

And about the 7:30 of Rupp, that was his best performance ever in my view, so I meant why he never races this distance outdoors (like guys like Alamirew, Soi, Lagat) do every season?

Bty competing less often and lately in the season, there is less chance of being caught doping. Back to the lab and try to find a way to beat the HGH test.

Farah ducks the competition (AFTER having run his first marathon against a stacked field) and that makes him somehow less of a super star.

Trust me. Bolt's year this year has REALLY pissed me off. Everyone who's been following sprinting are dying to see him race Gatlin this year and potentially lose. It really makes me angry how rarely track superstars race each other, other than the African distance guys, who aren't so worried about potentially losing, it seems.
