I'm an American living in Europe, and the support for track and field/athletics here is just as laughable. And I can walk to where Bannister broke 4 for the first time in less than a half hour.
Stanford was not a grand prix meet. Do you honestly think that Europeans would be filling the crowds to see people run 27:30? Get over yourself. And if American is so uninspired, unambitious, and lazy, then why is it America who put so many runners under 28? What have any European countries done?
