Regardless of it being a slow or fast race, I don’t see Birnbaum being competitive after emptying the tank last night. Couttie has no chance either.
You never know. Wasn't Birnbaum 3k/5k champ at Big10s? I've a certain someone from Oregon anchor the DMR to victory about 40 minutes after winning the 5k.
Sadie did a good job of getting out, but that was a lot to work through.
Closed in 58.6. Probably didn't position the best but 3rd in a tactical championship mile is great for a freshman
ya she ran kind of a hockeresque race. and honestly she did push through a couple different people. She was the fastest person in the race, but Nielsen having run the DMR is very impressive here.
Sadie Engelhardt closes in 28.4 for 3rd. May very well be the fastest last lap ever, at least one of the fastest much like Sahlman’s last night
This is like the 3rd straight race that she's let herself be either boxed in or towards the back with 200 to go. I get she has a nasty kick but the talent of the other women finally caught up to her for leaving it that late
NCAA is such a joke. 25 year old winning is the equivalent of a 21 year old winning a high school state title. I can’t even fathom the amount of money and opportunities lost to true American college kids due to overaged foreigners
About 600 meters out I said "whoever has pole going into the last lap wins this", which is exactly what happened. If you're in the mile final getting that HAS to be your priority.
wonder if he just goes to the 5k as a pro. I have a hard time seeing him excel in a championship style 1500 to make a US team against some of the current american men when he hasn't done it in college.
