I would love to see Hunter and Teare rip it at the world XC championships. It may sound like a consolation prize compared to the 5k team, but that squad has the potential to medal: Blanks, Fisher, Hunter, Teare, Mantz, Simbaasa/Muhumed?! In the US?!
Even if he kicked for 3rd, he wouldn't have made the team. He doesn't have the auto and that race was too slow to get him ranked high enough to be qualified. He needed it to be a sub 13:10 type of race to go with his other 13:15ish performances to get a good ranking.

Yeah, I mean he could have gone for a fast race after the champs if he wanted to get the standard or a higher rating. I'm not aware if the period to get the standard has ended yet or not. I would think not.

Ya I suppose he would have had three more weeks to get another fast time, but not sure there are many good options or races he can get in for the 5,000m between now and then.
Same question/don't think it's been answered. All 3 are either already on the 1500 or 10k team. Feel for Drew. He put it all out there. How do you even compete with a 51s last lap in a 5k.

Thats a nice run for many people BUT for Drew Hunter it isn't. Blame it on the expectations I guess.
what has he done that would make you think expectation was anything better than 4th? He beat some guys that are probably better than him and got beat by guys that are without a doubt better than him.
drew woulda got third if he stayed on the rail behind hocker. too bad, outstanding run from him. Realizing he doesn't chase times, would be nice to see him break 13 by a good bit in a fast race.
