Sad she wasn't able to start the final. I wonder what happened...anyone on the ground there hear anything? What a tough grind this sport has been for her. Hope she's okay. I agree a coaching change would be important if she is to try and be competitive in track.

She will never be competitive on the track. There are just too many American women who are faster and younger. The trail thing didn't work out either. The only thing left is to move to the roads full time, if she can manage to stay healthy.

Yeah you're probably right about track, but it'd be interesting to see her give it a consistent try for another season, just focusing on it. But, I do think the trails are still a possibility for some level of success, maybe moreso than the roads...again if she just focuses on one discipline/scene. It'll be interesting to see what happened with the DNS and where she goes from here.
She finished 7th at the '24 Trials, so she certainly can be competitive. That said, I agree that she needs to focus on it, rather than jumping around to trail stuff.

Her PR of 8:21 would have gotten her 8th today so I guess it depends on how you define competitive.
I would love to see her be successful, but I'm just being realistic.
Allie O needs a coaching change more than Athing Mu.
Roche has no clue how to coach the steeplechase.
To be fair, she wasn’t making any finals for a while until he started coaching her. He may not be the best pure track coach but she needs more mental coaching than the average pro which he provides

No way she was running her PR today (and you mean 921 not 821). She probably would have been near the back of the pack in the final today. But she should have scratched sooner rather than taking a spot away from someone else.
You can't focus on trails and road and track at the same time and excel at any of them unless you're among the best in the world, and she is not.

Allie qualified for the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS in the steeple in 2019....long before Roche.
Frankly, I think she knew she wouldn't be competitive and didn't want a bad showing. I doubt she would have broken 9:20. She should probably move on from SC.
The truth is probably much more simple: team Allie did not anticipate making it out of th semi-finals, and had thus purchased return airfare for Friday. Boy, they sure must have felt silly while sipping on plastic cups of soda 10,000ft in the air on Friday!

Yes that was coming straight out of college and made no other team and had many issues since.

Agree with all your points - and yeah, obviously meant 9:21.

With her social media posts, especially YouTube, you kind of feel like you know her- A very kind, sincere person who has been through a lot. Maybe she is past her prime years, but loves running, competing, and learning. She has been a real help to many young runners struggling with anorexia. Also, to be quite competitive at trails, roads, and the track, is really special. It's nice to see someone (along with her fiance Spencer) who are very, very, talented in the big picture, but not necessarily in the "world class" division, who still strive to get every ounce of success out of a sport they love. She's just a cool lady that you wish the best for!
I find her a bit whiney and dramatic. But I do really enjoy her boyfriend, Spencer's youtube videos. He's hilarious. Allie is fortunate that she is sponsored by that woman's company, OIsselle. Oiselle is know for keeping, let's say past their prime athletes on the payroll for quite awhile as long as they have a popular social media presence which she definitely does.

Even if she ran, she would have gotten distanced easily in the final.
Top three women: 5'8" 5'9" 5'6
Gabi Jennings: 5'6"
Emma Coburn: 5'8"
Courtney Freirchs: 5'7"
Allie O: 5'1"
Let's not pretend her height is not holding her back from reaching her full potential in this event. You'll point to Yaavi but that woman is also lighter than air with ankle diameter smaller than the average 6th grade boy.
