I wouldn't take it too personally. He's a decent runner (likely would've been top 25 at D1 nationals while pushing 30), but the buck kind of stops there. He can only really complain and whine behind a screen because he's 100 pounds soaking wet and I doubt any decent employer would give him a job given his history. That includes pro running groups. Just let the college kid (middle aged adult) yap on Instagram or what not. This is one of the few times where the average poster might actually be doing better in life than the person they're up in arms about.
Do we really think he would have placed top 25 at D1 nationals?
He beat Allan Kiplagat this year by a few seconds who was 19th at NCAAs. The other guys close to him at the A&M meet (the Cheruiyots, Kiprito, and Koech) were all in the 100s at Nationals or didn't make it out of regionals. He could definitely have been an All American or at least in the hunt but that's kind of expected when you've been running in college for almost a decade now. Many have had full high school and college careers that have included Top 25 NCAA finishes in the time it has taken him to get a degree.
This gotta be my favorite thing about runners talkin' about "the haters." I been known to spread some ish talk on the boards but how these bros findin' out about this? They name searchin' on the boards to find some thread with 20 posts? Hey, whatever motivates these guys. Never fails to make me laugh when guys are sayin' in interviews "people was doubtin' me" or "the haters keep talkin'" and it's just like who is payin' all this attention outside a microscopically small group of message board freaks.
between this and him picking a fight with every single commenter under a recent Citius Mag IG post (including making 'your mama' comments), it's like this guy knows he destined to never be picked up by a sponsor
moreover, if he somehow does think he could go pro, it makes these decisions with his online presence even stupider
This guy’s only comeback to any of his “haters” is that he is faster. I don’t know about you guys but I’d rather be a little slower without having SA accusations, than be a fast predator! Maybe that’s just me though…
I feel like the general consensus around big daddy Ev has been largely positive lately?
Sure he is a bit of a goofball and there are rumors he's a bit of a bad drunk, but he's been running extremely well and seems to be on a trajectory to qualify for trials/US championships on a regular basis.
he dropped down to NAIA, of COURSE he's running better. he's a Division 1 scholarship level athlete competing against hobby joggers.
kinda like when Johnny Manziel's game really improved once he started playing arena football.

I'm stunned at your comments!
Matt, you are normally reasoned and kind, what happened?

I am, I just have an issue with showboats and braggarts. he just rubs me the wrong way. a dose of humility will not only help his running but more importantly his character

Congratulations to our former neighborhood threat for winning the national small Christian junior college cross country title. I see that it hasn’t changed your personality at all! You’re still the same angry, insecure, and mouthy little dweeb that staggered the streets of The Bluff looking for low resistance prey. Has your former bestie, Cooper, reached out? Probably not.
Our streets are safer. Thanks for moving away! Stay out of trouble while enjoying your reputation in the greater running community. No matter what, you will always live in C.J. Albertson’s shadow as only the second best runner from Fresno.
Hi, I am Troy McClure. You might remember me from the At-Home Thanksgiving Holiday survival tips thread I posted earlier this week. I encourage you to apply those same lessons learned to this Holiday disruption. Specifically, what I talk about as Boomerang Effects is happening right now. The boomerangs have flung out here and soon they will resolve themselves.
He's such a prick in Flotrack's comment section too.
After a woman commented "Anyone who is blindly supporting him should look into why he's not competing in the NCAA anymore. The allegations are true and I was close to someone who was affected"
Evert replied "go cry to letsrun girly pop."
Truthfully, this may be a flash in the pan. And the best case scenario is that the allegations are untrue - but behavior like this in the face of serious topics is usually not a good indicator of innocence.
People may ask why we (or all other sites) harp on Evert Silva, when he's only in the NAIA, and still improving. Newsflash, Evert - it's not because people hate on an underdog, or they're hating just to hate - allegations of sexual assault are taken seriously. He desires to be as standoffish as possible in comment sections because it gets him fans with the young teenage men that either don't know or don't care about the actions he's taken.
And to Evert -
At the end of the day, the world isn't out to get you just because you're doing life. It's out to get you because what you do and how you treat other people comes back to bite you - no matter how fast you are. And when you lash out in comment sections (like the example shown above), it doesn't exactly help your case. You can blame Letsrun, but when you go to bed at night, it's you that has to deal with your conscience. You can run fast as you want, but you can't run away from what you do and who it affects.
And if you continue to invalidate people in such a brash manner, just know it does nothing to fuel the fire. People have slower mile times, doesn't mean their opinions or criticisms don't matter - but that may be news to you. You don't want the world against you for a "villain arc" when they have every right to be.
for a bit more context - Evert Silva was asked to leave University of Portland following allegations of sexual assault. In 2022, a thread was made in which people connected alleged that this was unsurprising and that the team was happy to see him go. Likely, this is why he's up in arms about LetsRun being toxic.
The complaint was dropped following Silva's exit from the university - which could be an exoneration, except it was never said he was innocent. Just that he was leaving. He posted said letter, people called him out in comments, he unposted it - said he would put out a youtube video but I don't believe he has done so - anyone's guess as to why.
Given the complaint was made on a college campus and to a school, instigating prosecution while the accused has left might have been a moot point. We'll never truly know all of the details - but we do know he left Portland after this, enrolled and then left seminary, and now is at an NAIA school.
I know people who have had sexual assault cases that have no desire to bring them to light in the school for fear they aren't followed through with, when they have every right to be. It's a long and grueling process - that often relives the worst memories of someone's life. If the offender leaves, it can be easier to simply let it fall through, and not hold on to their influence anymore. This is all hypothetical in response - but it's another perspective on why people don't exactly buy his innocence. When people dodge responsibility left and right and can simply leave, the court of public opinion often holds them to task.
The normalized toxicity of LetsRun lumps these actual criticisms in with others that water down their weight. However, when someone had sexual assault allegations that were supported (anonymously) without any personal gain to be made - then it should be taken seriously.
Evert has turned this into a victim complex a mile wide, and in order to prevent litigation for harassment/defamation, I have only said allegedly and allegations - not implying truth. Simply explaining why many are critical, and at the worst, why I would like to devote as little as possible to this topic (after having explained it).

Evert is gonna read this and not understand it. Can you dumb it down for him so he understands. Here I’ll start:
Evert, you did bad thing, hurt lots of people, you no take responsibility for actions. Only make things worse by being bad on internet. Stop pretend your innocent and be good boy for now on. Also, lay off the alcohol.

absolutely wrecked him LMAO. this is 100% facts. evert is a fast runner you can't dispute times in results..but he truly strikes me as the kind of guy who will never want to get a 'normal' job, and probably won't even be able to given his history and how he comes off. he's the dude who is gonna be working retail or at a restaurant in 5-10 years and reminiscing on the 'glory days' with his buddies or strangers lol.
dude definitely got into some murky water to get expelled or asked to leave from a D1 school (not sure of the exact way it played out) and have to go to the NAIA. like..not a good look kid. you can deny it or hide it all you want but everyone knows you were at Portland and then now bouncing around to random schools just so you can keep making running the focus. You can play up the suave ghetto persona as long as you want but you really only have teenage boys fangirling over you lol. that's weird and pathetic. Evert 'looks so sick' and 'runs fast times' while wearing his skeleton gloves (like bruh)..I really think Evert will look back at himself in 5 years and realize how cringey his whole real life and internet presence were. you're not hard kid, you're a scrawny fast NCAA reject in the middle of nowhere oklahoma who posts running pics with rap lyrics and try to act like you're hard in any sense for what seems to be no logical reason lol. it's not going to get you anywhere. no pro teams want you, so what are you gonna do for money and a living when NAIA time is up lbvs
Maybe try not sexually assaulting people and you wouldn’t have to denounce anyone. All the sponsors are going to stay far away from you Evert. Even if you run great you can’t run from your past.
