If I prompted everyone, "there are double whammies of aging personality disordered parents" how would people respond?
Are a relative's kids poorly behaved and wild?
Is your in-law a DUMB DRUNK?
Does anyone elderly ever cause your head to hurt when they yell at the TV?
Do you ever pinch the skin between your eyes to soothe the pain?
If YES to any of the above, you may be entitled to compensation.
Hi, I am Troy McClure, you might remember me from...
Friends near and far, I will share a first fundamental survival tactic in this toxic environment. Ask yourself the following:
Is the impending argument (1) a valid argument and, if so, is the argument (2) an important argument to resolve?
The subjective (2)nd part is a critical component of this test. If the potential arguer does not perceive the world properly -- a neuro-imaging absorption by the prefrontal orbital complex and successful transmission to the emotional (dis)regulatory and (il)logical decision-making kernels of the human brain -- they MAY NOT think and act properly as a result. So understand from this that certain arguments are indeed NOT WORTH having.
Also let's learn a Machiavellian fundamental survival tactic to deploy when arguments present themselves. Niccolo Machiavelli was attributed with the contemporary quote:
"It is double the pleasure to deceive the deceiver"
Let's allow this to sink in for a minute.
In action this means (1) NOD and (2) SMILE in response to all boisterous personalities making ridiculous statements.
Injecting a basic Murphy's Law principle, we know what can go wrong will go wrong. Therefore, you definitely want to remain on the other side of this prisoner's dilemma walls as much of the time as you can in the holiday environment because once you commit to an argument a lot more can go wrong.
So dont jump in the dillemma confines at all.
When deploying the NOD and SMILE tactic realize there are Boomerang Effects that take place when diametrically opposed viewpoints naturally have the ability to resolve themselves without your involvement. Here Patience is a virtue.
Obvious surface level issues more often than not resolve themselves.
If a Boomerang Effect takes place, it is important to then deploy part two from the Machiavellian masterful playbook.
In action this means to sometimes (1) SHAKE HEAD and (2) REFLECT SYMPATHY to avoid a premise for future arguments even if you do not agree or knew better in the beginning.
The key properties extracted from Machiavellian's quote are the deceptive reflective-ness in the moment signifying cooperation to individuals and exhibiting patience over the long term to refine one's wisdom.
Happy Thanksgiving week and safe travels everyone!
