Jakob vs Yared: 2-2 (Eugene, Monaco - Paris, Zurich)
Jakob vs Josh: 1-2 (Zurich - Eugene, Paris)
Jakob vs Cole: 3-1 (Eugene, Lausanne, Zurich - Paris)
Yared vs Josh: 1-2 (Zurich - Eugene, Paris)
Yared vs Cole: 2-2 (Eugene, Zurich - USAs, Paris)
Josh vs Cole: 1-2 (Eugene - Paris, Zurich)
Jakob and Yared have a losing record against Josh. Josh has a losing record against Cole. Cole has a losing record against Jakob and is even against Yared. Yared is even against Jakob.
Whoever wins in Brussels has a strong claim as #1 imo.
Except that Kerr has not qualified for Brussels
Kerr ran two 1500/mile races outside of Paris. He’s not in the running for number one this year.

Wrong again
Jakob vs Yared 6-2 (Eugene 2023 and 2024, Oslo 2023, Rabat 2023, Budapest 2023, Monaco 2024 (Blew the doors off Nuguse) - Paris 2024, Zurich 2024)
Jakob vs Josh 9-3 ( World U20 Championships 2016, Doha 2019, Tokyo 2021, Oregon 2022, Lausanne 2022, Zurich 2022, Oslo 2023, Lausanne 2023, Zurich 2024, Budapest 2023, Eugene 2024, Paris 2024)
Jakob vs Cole 7-1 (Tokyo 2021, Eugene 2022, Eugene 2023, Budapest 2023, Eugene 2024, Lausanne 2024, Zurich 2024 - Paris 2024)
Jakob is the CLEAR number one still and this isn't even counting the MARGIN of victory he had over everyone as well. Anyone arguing otherwise is biased and deluded. Jakob's ONLY rival in terms of head to head victories is Timothy Cheruiyot who has lots of wins against Jakob when he was in his teenage years.
I think that if you were prancing around saying Kerr is washed is just wrong as he is certainly in that top 4 in the 1500 right now. But its good to finally have some serious competition in the 1500 and the mile and not going into every race expecting Jakob to win if anything in my opinion Jakob needs to look out more now because for the first time in his career he is being challenged and i think he really needs to work on his last lap (Pre, olympics, world champs the list goes on) but i think tokyo will be great and i am guessing they are all running in Brussels so hopefully we will get some more tight racing
He would have won easily if he hadn't been sick. Nuguse wouldn't have been able to hang with him and would have struggled to break 3:30.
Laros finished less than a second behind Hocker. Another winter's training (hopefully without injury this time), another year older in 2025, he will likely be the guy challenging Jakob.
Annoying fanboys compare whatever race they find very creativ, to prove there fanboy is best. Or they try to the make other fanboys wrong by some fake news.
JI vs big wannabee nextguy from Scotland has met 17 times. Kerr won three. And he talks like he is the best runner in the world. He is not capable of running faster then 3:30 without slipstreaming someone first 1400m.
Further the big wannabee won 5 times and lost 3 times to Hocker and won 5 agaist Wightman, but lost 7. Tim C beaten Kerr 11 times and we havn't seen the last yet. Nuguse have ahrdly won anyraces but he has equal scoare agains Scottish world ultimate Runner boy.
There is nothing special in his results, hes a perfect next guy. His god year consist of winning one race against a guy coming from injury. His last wins have all be done without the best competitors. To fall for his fake news and become a discussing fanboy have to be 12 year old and paid to troll or just to own no critical sence.
This will be my first and last post on this subject.

I might be mistaken but if you listen to Kerr’s post race interview he says he’s going to do the Fifth Avenue mile and then that’s it (sounded that way). Seeing as he’s based in the US that makes sense - otherwise that’s a lot of back and forth.
He’ll obviously get massively slated on here for doing that though.
Kerr has run two outdoor races this year outside of the Olympics. To me that's not a good season. He should have more respect for Ingebrigtsen whos is a true prfessional racing week in week out, even when he's not 100%. He knows losing is part of the deal and he also knows he'll be the first to go sub 3.26, so he just keeps on going, doing what he loves best.
Why show respect to a guy who disparages his competition? Jakob failed to medal, doesn't have the WR yet, and lost to Kerr in 3 of their last 4 races. Enjoy your mental gymnastics.

He is not qualified for Brussels (like Kessler, Laros…)

Why did Kerr prep for 3 weeks and only managed to show up with a measly 3:31?

Out of his control
Ah ok, I didn’t realise that.
He said the 5th Avenue mile is his favourite race and so probably happy to tend his season there.

All of it is under his control - he simply won’t race like the others do.

The w-l comparisons were for this year and for who is number 1 this year.
Does he really race that rarely? He had 3 rounds in Paris.
(I mock of course; Zurich is not included in the current world rankings, so he'll have a ranking next week. Don't expect him to be anywhere near Jakob though.)
(I also hate the world rankings, but like the rest of you, I'll use whatever information suits me at a given time. Sometimes the data does lie).
I don't expect this sub to have common sense, but running your SB in the Championship final every single year is the furthest thing from a fluke. Likewise, Jakob not winning the 1500 3 years in a row is not a fluke either. Pay attention to patterns, sometimes multiple factors align. Furthermore Josh literally ran a fantastic mile at Pre and Jakob didn't even win this race so I don't know what your point is
Why would running his SB in the championship finals be something noteworthy when he races 3 times per year? Not like he has many opportunities to run fast
HS "invitational" events happen every weekend through the season and many season PRs are set at them and many studs win every time they compete at these meets. ...Then they get to Reginals or State and lose.
Guess which ones matter? Nobody cares about the invitational meets compared to the Championships. Championships matter.
Jakob is 0 for 3 in his last 3 WCs/Oly and 1500 and Kerr has beat him 3 out of the last 4 times thry competed. That is significant no matter how you spin it. Jakob is very good but GOATs don't lose Championships in their primary event at that rate.

Jakobs best event is the 5000m, where he hasn't lost since 2019. The 1500 is his worst event and yet no other currently active 1500 runner has performed better than Jakob in championship races and none of the GOAT 1500 runners have had a better career when they were 23 than Jakob.
Jakob is trying to become the overall running GOAT, not the 1500 running GOAT, and his record of an Olympic gold, two Worlds silvers, three European golds and a 3:26 PB is more than enough to still be able to become the overall GOAT if he performs better in his best events compared to his worst event.

That's some hardcore spinning of your own: "Jakob is 0 for 3 in his last 3 WCs/Oly and 1500 and Kerr has beat him 3 out of the last 4 times thry competed. That is significant no matter how you spin it."
- Why stop at 3 WCs/Oly? Go back one more year and you have an Olympic gold for Jakob, something that Kerr doesn't have
- Kerr is similarly 1 for the last 4 WC/Oly's (but his gold is only WC...)
- (feel compelled to point out that Jakob also has three 5000 golds, but I guess that's irrelevant)
- Kerr has beaten him 3 out of the last 4 times they competed? So that's last year's WC final, the Prefontaine mile in May (a meaningless HS "invitational" event by your logic, no?) and Paris Olympics where Kerr didnt even win (after riding Jakob for 95% of the race).
Most recenty, Kerr got beat handily by Jakob in Zurich.
And mixed in, Kerr failed to show up and compete when Jakob ran 3:26 or his post-Olympic 3:27 (dropping Hocker by two seconds) or when Jakob set the 3000 WR.
I have no beef with Kerr training and racing as he deems fit, but such a track record does not warrant this level of lionizing that he gets from some people on these boards (who love to cherry pick race results to try to pump up his creds)
jakob - fastest 1500m of this generation and WR holder in the 3000. highest likelihood of winning but has lost several times since making it to the elite level
josh kerr - wins a world championship and suddenly everyone thinks he's a championship winner only to lose in the next major race
cole hocker - 3:30 guy who magically pulled a 3:27 out of the hat but wasn't able to replicate the party trick. thought his stock went up but it stayed right where it was before the olympics with his 3:30 performance
neguse - sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. wynaut?
