Forecast is starting to heat up a little…apple showing 57 at 10am and getting up to 72

Weather forecast looks great as of now especially if the winds hold up where they are now. This will probably be my last Boston so I really hope there's good weather.

BTW, findmymarathon puts up the Boston Marathon weather up each year. You can put in your time and wave and it will give you the weather at the start halfway and in Boston based on it. Gives how much headwinds and tailwinds too which I like.

I don't know if this was directed at me, but my response was to answer the question about when the wind forecast is reliable. And also why they can be horribly wrong even just two days out and no one notices except us runners. I'm not sure why that was so difficult to understand.

Anyway, the temp forecast is back to warm. But 7 days out is only about 50% accurate. Even with the long range improvements in the last 20 years in regards to accuracy. So plenty of time for that to turnaround. No reason to panic.

We are updating out forecast every day or two. The latest forecast fromm apple shows much warmer weather but a tail wind. Also the forecast has gone from cloudy skies to sunny skies. Weather.com still has a high of 60 but apple has a high of 73.

Why the disparity between Apple's forecast (which shows a high of 76 in Boston for Marathon Monday) and the Weather Channel's (which shows a high of 60)?

Rojo you may want to use Wunderground.com instead of weather.com. More accurate and up to the hour.

Looks like the consensus (with Apple reverting to low 60s) now is start in high 50's and around 60 at finish. Low dewpoint (low 40s), partly cloudy and decent tailwind. Hope it stays there! If it stays like this and the elite men attack it, I'd say 2:03-04 on the table.

I've been using this map the past few years, a little buggy and slow but puts it all in one location. That tailwind has me way too optimistic though 😅

Do you weigh yourself everyday?? Just curious.

Weather still looking good, but temps are starting to creep up (70° daytime high). Might be a bit of a nuisance for the later waves.

Tailwind would be nice, but also would affect cooling.

With the dry air I don't think you'll have any issues with sweat evaporating quickly, even if the tailwind is matched to your speed.

Boston has water stations on both sides almost every single mile, so take advantage of them. Last time it was on the warm side my strategy was to take a cup every mile, take a small drink, and dump the other half on my head.

Yeah, I usually use weatherunderground for my local forecast, but they didn't have a 14 day when I started this thread. Their forecast high of 65° in Boston vs. 67° in Hopkinton. There's a small chance or rain/showers in the early morning which could shift a few hours, but shouldn't impact race times, just people's comfort prerace.
