asics - ugly yellow things, but very soft and a wide toe box. very porous upper
Saucony Fasttwitch "speed" isn't bad either - the "endurance" version has a medial post

My votes are for:
Mizuno Wave Precision, New Balance 833, DS Trainer XI
dude, it has a very slight medial post, it's still pretty neutral. There aren't that many truly lightweight neutral shoes out there.
I have always liked the New Balance 833's.
I think they have been updated and are no the 834, not entirely sure though. I miss my job at the running store. :(
I have a pair of Mizuno Wave Precisions. They feel like they have a larger heel to toe drop than DS Trainers; I don't know if the numbers back me up, but the feel is definitely very different. I could never get into these shoes, and they also seemed to wear out pretty quickly (I wore them to recoup my investment).
One of the Asics reps sent me a pair of the SpeedStars recently. This is also a very comfy shoe without sox. Airs out well and just feel good. I do feel like a yellow Volkswagon with a Yellow Ferrari Engine when I wear them. I think that is how it goes!
I think my favorite would have to be the Asics DS Trainer from 2001, I think it was the VII version? White and red. You used to be able to buy them on Road Runner Sports classic section but now they have very limited sizes. I've tried the newer versions but they just don't come close to that model!

Gel Lyte
I'll second the Gel Lyte. Back when I was in 7th grade or so and just started running (I'm a senior in college now) they were all I wore. I loved them. A local running store near me has brought them back. They have a the fashion model being produced today. I wonder what the difference is between the fashion model and the originals? Any one know if I could buy them and start running?
Nike Miler
My personal favorite is the Speedstar or Speedstar II. It's my primary training shoe and my marathon racing shoe.
The successor to the NB 833 is the 825. It's a fairly lightweight trainer, but not compared to the much lighter Speedstar. The 825 is my easy day shoe.
The Puma Prevail is a nice shoe (9.5 oz's) and I've got close to 500 on them. It's a low profile, slightly stiffer cushioned shoe (i.e. opposite of a Nike) thats lasted me a while.
