Dude, you are ranting against your fellow shoppers?
How about ranting at the store?
Hire more workers. If I wanted to scan and bag groceries, I would get a job at your store. Please don't make me work when I visit your store. I'm a consumer - not free labor.
Personally, I'd pay to not have to interact with other humans while shopping.
Isn't that what you do with a grocery delivery service?
i think rojo means he'd pay extra to have the store open only to him. with a delivery service, you're ordering, not shopping (i.e. - you're hoping the "shopper" selects the specific produce item from the ones available for sale; e.g. - not just a cantaloupe, but a specific cantaloupe).
This is not about grocery store prices, but those who clog up the self checkout line:
-About 15 items doesn't mean 30 or more, know your maths
-Don't teach your kid how to scan when there are 10 people in line
-Wait to talk on your phone until AFTER left the stands
-Bag as you go
-Use a basket, you don't need a big a$ cart for bread and a can of soup
-Write down the produce code, instead of scrolling through the photos and not know the diff between a russet and a gold
And ya bro I'm mad but I feel better.
Stand in line cup cake. Because when my kids where young I am going to let them help scan. I think you are just a miserable person if this is what you flll your day with.

I'm with you on the baskets. If you're shopping for a family or stocking up, fine get a cart. Otherwise, most people can get by with a basket. Its so much easier to move through the store with just a basket and you're not going to grab a bunch of junk you'll never use.
Do you think that in the future when self-scan checkouts become obsolete that each store will be like the Amazon store? The store where you can pick up items and simply walk out and it bills you.

Most likely. Cameras will prevent theft. You'll select a payment method and enter personal details or pull up a profile of some sort before you enter stores. Corporations goals is always to lose as little as possible and to make as much money as possible, part of which they see as getting by with as few employees as possible. 1 fewer person to mind self checkout lanes is one fewer person who's wage they don't have to pay, and a few more dollars for a big wig.

I think so too. As well, that store 'knew' which items people had removed from the store, even if they picked them up and put them back and so on. I was surprised how accurate it was meant to be!

Or how about the people who position their cart in an aisle such that no one else can pass through. Then, you guessed it, she has that loud ringtone sounding from her pocket and when she opens up her phone she begins babbling about gossip while essentially talking at a decibel level the whole store can hear.

Seattle startup Veeve is expanding its checkout-free, smart shopping-cart technology from grocery stores to big-box retailers with a new attachment that effectively turns regular shopping carts into smart carts. Veeve… Read M...
This cart scans the items as you put them in. You can use an app with your payment information (stores already have this) and no need for a check out at all.
The thing is that Count Chocula still contains less sugar than Special K with Red Berries (why can’t they call is a strawberry, raspberries are also red, as are currants…), so you can’t call the non-produce code-knowing mouth m-breathers inept if you display your own inability to read a nutrition label.
The self-check is actually a brilliant display of irony whereby the shopper who thinks the average grocery employee is an idiot, displays their own idiocy when trying to operate the kiosk.
And troll or not, if you hate the self-check so bad, just go to a line where a human employee operates the machine.

Mom was a Home Economist/Nutritionist by schooling and profession so the pre sugared cereal were a "treat" maybe every 3 months, 1 box. She was also a consumer advocate and didn't care for the deceptive ads, "part of a healthy..."
