When Kiplimo hit 26:33 with no kind of pacemakers, wavelights, supershoes, etc... What would Grant have ran under those conditions is what I'm asking
Wth kinda nonsense?? Errr, Kiplimo had pacers and super shoes. Grant did not have wavelights. No matter how you cut it, Grant is faster
Wrong, no super shoe for Kiplimo's 26:33. His 7:26.64 3k and 12:48 5k from 2020 were also done in Mamba's. Dude is a huge talent. All sources below
"Kiplimo said his goal was only to run under 27:00. He ran in Nike Mamba spikes. I asked him why he didn't run in the new-age super-spikes like the Dragonfly: "It's not comfortable for me, but maybe in the Olympics I will use it. This mamba is comfortable for me.""
Cheptegei could only manage 7:33.24 in the 3000 as Daniel Komen’s legendary 7:20.67 world record lives on. In the sprints, Fred Kerley ran 9.96 to dominate Justin Gatlin and Andre De Grasse. Talk about the action on our world...
Without the stuff the Ten provided. I doubt Fisher would've gone below Rupp's 26:44.
Give those conditions to Barega, Worku, Aregawi (Who already tied on the roads), Kejelcha, Kiplimo, Krop, and a couple more
And Grant wouldn't even be in the Top 10 anymore.
Barega, Kejelcha and team are so far behind Grant it's laughable. Those guys may be at Kincaid level but definitely not Fisher.
Kejelcha ran 26:49 at the 2019 World Championship Finals against Cheptegei at his peak. This was less than a year before Cheptegei hit 26:11. Cheptegei barely edged him out in the final 100m. So no, they are definitely not the same level. Kejelcha hit 26:49 just last year at the Ethiopian trials even AFTER having transitioned to the Half Marathon. And Just a week ago he hit 12:50 ON THE ROADS after having ran 58:32 some months ago.
I'd like to see Grant pull this feat off. Again, I like Grant. He's a great runner for Team USA. But, he ain't at that level.
Kejelcha can pull a lot of stuff off but seems unable to peak at championships post-Salazar. Crazy that a 3:47 miler with 58:32 endurance isn't dominating the championships or even the circuit.
When did Grant win in a big internathional field last time?
It's not weird to bet that known winners will beat him in a race. Carbon shoes and wavelight are also definitly worth more than what you think. People response differently to them, but it sure is more than 0 seconds in the 10000m

And he got smoked by Fisher in the last two Global Champs. But congrats I guess on peaking 3 months before Worlds. Seems like the Kejelcha special.

I'll amend the argument and say there are ~10 guys that, on any given day, could beat or be beaten by Fisher.
The 10k is crazy deep right now, and in a championship race anyone could be beat (especially if Cheptegai or Kiplimo don't blow out the pace up front).
I guess what I'm saying is that everyone is using SS's. Why dilute the talent that exists with this pointless argument about "hOw MUcH thEy HeLp": the science proves they help; everyone wears them. Therefore: everyone wearing them will see a benefit.
it is absolutely insane that you people are calling a guy who doubled 4th and 5th in the world championships is not on the same level as the other world class guys. bump to above comment about 10 guys being able to beat eachother. Only guys that I see as completely out of Fisher's league are cheptegei and kiplimo (maybe). Still haven't seen what kiplimo perform in big races on the track the way he has in xc or roads.
Grant fisher is world class. He is not the best in the world, but he's not that far off.

Agreed its absurd. The only two people that have beaten him in both of the last 2 global champs are Cheptegei and Kiplimo, who I feel comfortable saying are definitely better than Fisher. Everybody else can be beat (And has been beat).
And this Kejelcha worship is bizarre. Dude has been M.I.A. in global finals outside of 2019, but is somehow getting credit for blitzing fast times in March? Get out of here.

Given Grant isn’t from, training in Kenya or Ethiopia I say he is the fastest clean 5, 10k guy in the world.
I know my statement will outrage some. I don’t care. Kenya and Ethiopia athletes agents doctors corner pharmacies have made it very clear to all that follow the sport

Bro got beat by Klecker at USAs....
Despite the fact that Klecker ain't a kicker like him or even has the Olympic Standard.
This is dumb. Yes. I think he could, but he won't have to. They will all be wearing super shoes. I want whatever you're smoking this fine Thursday night.
Fisher is only behind maybe 10 guys internationally in the 10k. All of those folks, on top of the thousands behind them will be wearing SS's. Inane, pointless argument.
He is fast yes, but if he went to an all comers in Kenya he would finish around 40th out of 50 in a 10k. Behind 10 guys means behind 10 of the selected Olympic team runners from around the world. Seems like a small issue but it needs to be clear that these Americans are jv without team limits
What are you smoking? Fisher behind ten guys? So no matter if he was clearly the fastest in 2022 and one of the fastest of all time, and no matter he failed tactically yet came in 4th place in the WC final, barely edged out by the three in front....he is behind 10? Lol
