There is 35,000 CAD ($27,225) bonus for a new course record (2:07:05 men, 2:22:43 women). First place is worth 20,000 CAD ($15,557) with second paying 12,000 CAD ($9,334).

The complete elite fields appear at the end of this document but the men’s race features defending champ Laban Korir and four other sub-2:08 guys with Peter Some (2:05:38) being the fastest. Sally Kipyego‘s older brother, Michael Kipyego, the 2002 world junior steeple champ who has three times broken 2:07, is also in the field.

In the women’s race, Ethiopia’s Shure Demise, who became the first teen under 2:21 earlier this year in Dubai when she ran 2:20:59 just two days after her 19th birthday, is the fastest woman in the field. She comes in having finished 4th in Dubai and 8th in Boston. Speaking of Boston, 2012 Boston champ Sharon Cherop returns to Toronto where she set the course record (2:22:43) in 2010. 2014 champ Mulu Seboka of Ethiopia is not back to defend her crown as she was 5th in Chicago last week.

Race organizers also state that “the race will also serve as the Canadian Championships with two-time Olympian Eric Gillis and Canadian women’s record holder, Lanni Marchant, both chasing the Olympic qualifying standard.”
