And i am taking about his distance running ability, not his looks . US has a fairly high population.
What does that tell you ?
For sure there must be 10 more Rupps out there if things are done right . Or is he originally from Iten
the looks white ?

The thing is that being Galen is not that easy. Talent is important but so is the willingness to jump when Alberto says, including accepting the unethical side of Alberto. It was the perfect storm of home grown talent, smart training and shady shenanigans.

No, there aren't 10 more Rupps out there. He is a once in a generation type talent. There weren't 10 more Jim Ryuns out there when he broke through, either.
Please translate into English and I’ll respond to you.
If epo use was as common in the US as in Kenya there would be an army of Rupp level talent.

This is your answer. In America most lower level elites lead the story that it’s impossible to be that fast. We believe Africans all cheat, and now so must the Swiss...and the Japanese. Anyone faster than us cheat. Ward and Kara Goucher are the fastest in the world, everyone else is cheating, didn’t you know this????
Because it's a pretty uncommon name. On the other hand there are multiple Michael Jordans in the US.

Swiss and Japanese? GTFOH
He wasn't a once-in-a-generation talent. He was just the most talented guy at Salazar's school so he swooped him up early. There are probably a dozen guys more talented around his age.

The challenge is to determine the "If he didn't cheat" WRs. If nobody cheated, Bekele would probably still be the WR holder. Maybe 12:45 and 26:35?

There's lots of guys with talent.
Not a lot of guys with interest in the sport.
Out of those that are interested, most have been brainwashed into being afraid of the doped to their eyeballs Africans.
There are many more athletes as good or better than him. Running simply isn't wildly popular in the US. This affects participation in high school. It also affects professional pay...which obviously changes how many college runners pursue a professional career and how many pros stick with it long term. It also affects how many good coaches are out there at the youth level developing talent and culture.
There are small pockets with high participation(Utah/Colorado/Washington), but large swaths of the US have minimal participation (the entire South).
BYU has been a very good team for some time now with teams made almost entirely of Utah kids. If every state had the participation and development present in Utah, distance running would get extremely competitive in a hurry.
Because it's a stupid sounding name.
I agree that he is once per generation guy. Ryun was the same. Webb was the same for mid D who happens to be in the same generation as Rupp.
According to whitepages.com there are at least 6 other Galen Rupps in the US. There are also Galen Rapps and Galen Ropps.
If there were 100% participation in tracks and field, we may have 50 Rupps.
But as it stands, we have 1.
No. This type of talent would not go unnoticed in gym class or some type of sport or just around the neighborhood.

Of all the people that have participated in running he has the 5K record. It calculates to 8:46 2-mile pace and is comparable to a 8:27 time. But out of a population of people that didn't compete, you're saying there are several guys that could have run 13:37 or faster? Can you name someone with the perfect body for running, who was the fastest kid in his PE class by over a minute in the mile and that blew off running even after the HS coach explained to him that he was a great runner that would receive a scholarship to run in college?
Asking the wrong question. Why is it that there is only one Alberto Salazar? If Alberto lived somewhere else, would he really have found no one of similar physical and psychological talent? Is it that big of a coincidence? Or is it more likely that talent like that mostly goes untapped in the US? I hope this isn't considered a slur on Galen, he's the one that actually went out there and DID IT, but:
Talent true but he is the only elite runner to have the same coach high school , college and pro , how many high school kids bomb out because they don’t click with the college coach ‘s philosophy and how many can’t find a good pro coach ? You heard it from the hounddog first . ?
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
