Hello,
I am currently a student running track at my high school. In January I will be doing a mid-year graduation so I will no longer be allowed to run track with my school. However, I still want to do track and field after I graduate. I am currently 17 and I was wondering if there were any options that could allow me to run with people my age after I graduate?
Thank you.
Where are you located? In most areas, the short answer is "no." The majority of high school sports organizations do not allow unattached runners to compete.
Depending where you are, there may be a small number of usatf or aau sponsored events. Google those organizations. If they have a chapter near you, you could also email somebody at that organization asking this.
If you are fast enough, you may be able to jump into some college meets. For the "moderately" competitive high schooler, junior college meets may allow you in. A bit more competitive and you may be able to get into more competitive college meets.
Events? Expected times during this season? General region/location?
Is your high school coach going to keep training you unofficially?
