Well said. On an unrelated note, how do you post with the prior message appearing in a box in the same post? I've been on here for years and I've never figured that one out.

True, and not to absolve the rest of the team of any blame but it's a dickmove to take a 'staycation' just as everyone else is working hard to make a deadline.
A lot of jobs are a steady stream of deadlines. If you keep waiting for a 'good time' to take a vacation, it never comes. Smart people wisen up and schedule time off ahead of time and honor that scheduled (and needed) time off rather than bow down to the demands of the job ever time. If you do that then it becomes expected and sends a message to the company not to value your time because you don't seem to.
Also, why the heck are people upset about the 'staycation' part? So it would be ok if she was slamming drinks on a beach on Mexico, but her staying home makes you upset? Weird.
It's the same mindset of bosses that expect you to stay unless you 'have plans.' The result is extroverts leave on time because they have a bro-date at Buffalo Wild Wings and introverts get roped into staying late. Except for me. I tell them I have a plan....to go home.
