I have seen some elimination miles, but haven't found an elimination 5k. Start with 20-25 runners, dropping the last place runner each lap, until you end up with 7-10 for the last lap. I would also award prize money for whoever is leading at the end of each lap. For $10,000 total, you could do $100 for leading the first full lap, $200 for leading at the end of the 2nd lap, and so on, until awarding $2200 (1300 plus the remaining 900, if my 6am math is right?) for leading at the end of the 13th and final lap. This should make for some great intermediate action at both ends of the pack. Obviously, someone with deep pockets could add a zero to all of those amounts; just trying to be realistic :-)
Is there such a thing already out there? Link to video?
