Background:
Ran age 11 - 18, topping out at 50mpw at age 18, including a long run of 1h40, a hard tempo, and a hard interval session each week.
PBs off this mileage were 2:22 for 800m, 18:29 for 5k, 39:42 for 10k (outdated), and 1:25 for the HM.
I then went to university, and stopped. I don't have much of an excuse for the first two years, but in the year just gone, I didn't have a spare second between studies and acting.
Anyway, it's the summer, and I've started again, and I am remembering how good it felt.
Plan is to get to regularly running 70mpw in singles, then throwing in some workouts. I think it's reasonable to get to this point by the end of August (I have spent 2 weeks regularly running over an hour and feel fine, and plan to take this slowly).
Whether I'll be able to do this when I'm in my final year of university, I don't know, particularly since theatre is taking up more time. But it's worth a shot, I'm certainly going to attempt it , and I plan on updating here for anyone who has had a similarly long break.
This week so far:
Monday: 9.3 miles, over undulating cycle paths. Felt strong throughout.
Tuesday: Didn't run (genuinely fell asleep both times of the day I could have gone. Absolutely no idea how that happened).
Wednesday (today): 9.3 miles again. Felt great.
Plan for rest of week:
Thursday: 10 miles
Friday: 6 miles
Saturday: 12.8 miles
Sunday: off
For planned total of 47.4 miles. Next week, I will boost the mileage again.
Will post again!
