Hello,
During junior year of high school, after focusing on water polo/swimming for many years, I decided to come out for track. In first meet on little training, I ran 5:07/2:17. After 6 weeks of running, I ran 4:34/2:02. I ran no more than 30-35 mi/week - I was coming in with no training, and with the short season that is HS T&F, my coach wanted to avoid injury.
I am curious as to what these times might project to for a 5k after a summer of 40-50 miles per week for XC training. I know there are many variables, but let's just try to keep this mainstream for now.
Reason for asking - four years later, I decided D1 swimming wasn't for me, and I'm now a collegiate triathlete. Just curious what kind of XC runner I could've been in HS.
Sorry for the double post. I realized that LetsRun doesn't like parentheses.
