I have been training hard since September for a 50k mountain trail run.
1 month ago I did my last long run of 37km while my girlfriend had a cold. Well I caught the cold from her straightway as I guess my immune system must have been down.
The cold lasted around 15-18 days. I did not run during those days as did not want to risk my 50km race.
Since getting better 10 or so days ago I ran couple of 21km runs just to get the fitness back. The throat felt bit swollen at the start of the runs but manegable.
Situation is that 2-3 days ago I seem to have got a 2nd cold or maybe it is remains of the 1st cold.
The 50km is in 3 days.
Some important points....during this cold and the previous cold I never had any fever, muscle ache or chest pain.
Only blocked nose, sore throat/swollen throat glands and light cough. This one seems less severe than the first one (so far) but there is slight feeling of tiredness.
Will you go for the 50km mountain race if you were in my situation ? 3000m+ of elevation gain and same elevation loss. My plan is to go currently.
Looking for your advice.
Thanks.
