He shut it down the final steps, and into a wind. Sub-19.9x for sure this season.
Steven joins Michael Johnson, Lashawn, Wayde, and Isaac in sub-20, sub-44 club.
This is gonna be a rivalry for a while if Kerley can stay focused and keep training hard. Norman seems more level headed and that bodes well for professional careers. Norman will crack 43.5 at some point in his career, most likely in this Olympic cycle. Kerley is not as smooth as Norman over 200m so it’s gonna take him being a more strength base runner to get him under 43.5, kinda like wariner except Fred looks too bulky to be that kind of runner. I could be wrong. I just don’t see Kerley running sub 20 for 200m unless something changes but I wouldn’t change whatever got him to 43.7.
Norman is going to break Fred's NCAA outdoor record this year. Won't even last a year. Crazy.
Strange to see a bulkier runner like Kerley struggling more at 200 but sub 44 at 400 already in college.
Usually if I saw this divergence, I'd lead the talk to demand he run an 800m, but not in this case.
Norman is emerging as a threat to make both 200 and 400 teams next year, and maybe even win trials in both, though
Kerley still has the edge at 400.
Yeah its pretty crazy that after seeing Fred Kerley run 43.70 and show he is probably the future of American 400m running, MIchael Norman steps up and breaks the indoor world 400m record. No doubt that he goes and breaks Fred's collegiate outdoor record (barring injury). You would think Fred would have the advantage at 200 but Norman is the real deal!!

He just ran 20.5 into a decent headwind, and looked like he had a pretty bad first 100. if he cleans that up he is easily in 20.0 territory. just see how much he makes up in the last 70m
There was a false start in this race, but the 2nd gun went off very late. Most of the guys ran almost 100M before stopping. Kerley was out pretty well in the 1st race, but didn't get out as well in the restart. There was a headwind but it wasn't very much from where I was sitting.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
