And Robin Hood will overthrow the capitalists ... if he ever existed.
How do Atheists overcome and heal? . It's a miracle.
Jonathan Edwards, Bill Rodgers, Gaston Roelants, Emil Zátopek. Perhaps they never got injured, or perhaps they made use of science and common sense to get healed.
She seems wise for her age, defining yourself as one thing is dangerous because there is always the possibility that that one thing can be taken away, then you are left asking “Who am I?” but how does becoming religious and “finding her identity in god” change things? Is she constantly pushing religion now? I honestly don’t get religion.

All wisdom comes from God, even science and common sense.
Erin is very courageous.

Understanding and believing in religion changes everything. It’s not just a hobby. It is a significant part of who you are by its very nature. And to be in a prominent position like Erin is allows her to share the joy that she feels. I’m thankful for her candid comments on religion.
Somehow, sprinters can talk about their faith in God all the time and it’s completely normal, but one distance runner starts talking about religion and everyone goes crazy.
The answer is obvious: God hates Erin Finn.
Religious nutjobs are a fixture in college running. The delusion of an imaginary companion with you every step of the way is too seductive to fragile, isolated individuals.

It's because everyone feels bad for those uneducated poor bastards. Like "let'em have their imaginary best friend, they don't got much else." But distance athletes should know better.

And I'm sure your proof is..., 'The Bible', right?
Humankind created all its' gods and goddesses, initially I imagine because they were afraid of thunder, or
to explain the sun, or whatever. The christian god is only one of these deities, and not even the most popular
or longest lived.
Erin Finn, had she been born in Iran, would be a muslim. Had she been born in India, she'd most likely be hindu.
Had she been born in 9th century Denmark would have believed in Odin. And she would believe in all those gods
and religions as fervently as she does christianity, She would believe her god was the one true god, and if she was
Muslim would believe christians to be infidels. Funny how a person's religious faith seems to almost completely be
linked to where someone grew up and who their parents were, yes?
Religious people would be funny if they weren't so scary.

Absolutely this.
The notion that a deity would deign to concern its-self with the tweaked hamstring and the bruised navicular, or even the ruptured gastrocnemius, while children are burning from phosphorus bombs in other regions shows us the conceit and myopia of the brand of monotheism that is peddled about these days. Sport and competition are fun and even noble, but let us not pretend that it is deified.

And gods name is allah.
see what I did there?
Shame on you.
Don’t you realize that a large group of the founding fathers were “religious nutjobs” who were motivated my religion?
As to your nature v. nurture conjecture, I suppose you grew up in a home that wasn’t religious?

Yes, we all saw your poor sentence structure and lack of capitalization.
Way to go.

pedantic much?
It is no coincidence that the anti-God people on these boards are angry, nasty, and have little understanding of what faith is. I feel sorry for you. I really do, because you cannot truly feel joy or love without God. God is love. Life on earth is the snap of a finger. Heaven and hell are for eternity. Read Imagine Heaven by John Burke and never doubt again. Your eternal soul could depend on it.
Of course you'll trash me for this but I hope to God you find some peace in your unhappy life.
