Never heard of him until now. Had to google him. Beat some pros.
Nice job.

Lemere is a pro now. He ran 13:54/28:38 in college, so his winning club XC was not exactly an upset.
fantastic stepping stone for La Mere. Hope he carries the momentum over.

I wonder how many full-time pros were actually in this race but I bet Emmanuel Bor, 2nd place, had no idea who Lemere is.
Great to see another D3er doing well at the next level. I'm hoping Lau keeps running post collegiately and gets involved with a group like Ian did.
Congrats, Ian!!
If I were a betting man, I would guess he ends up at Hansons as well. A gritty tough kid that isn't a pampered D1 athlete.

All of Wisco is proud of him
is at Hanson's Brooks officially
I know Ian is there. I was talking about Lau.
Forgive me but who is Lau?

Darin Lau.
I understand that you may not know him but you probably didn't know Ian Lamere before this weekend.
I just looked up the Lau kid and he has never broken 29:10 for 10k. Pretty sure he is about 30 seconds away from being offered anything from Hansons.
He's made quite a jump from 13:54. He looks like he's going to break 13:30 and perhaps sub-28 for 10K in spring track. That's what it takes to win Club Nattys these days.

Anyone know the scoop on "Tinman Elite" ?

They won. Had some good runners on the team. Looks like sort of a make up team that did well.
We all knew he would succeed as a pro. Anxious to see what he makes of himself.

You are definitely pampered as a D3 runner, esp if you are a sub-29 guy.
You will have 1-2 hard races/year, so you can point to meets like Stanford.
If you have to soft-pedal a semester because of school, you can.
D1 is a job. Nobody cares about excuses, and nobody will miss you.
You are out to lunch

As a former D3 athlete, I fully agree with you.
There is really very little pressure on you at our level. You really only have 2 hard races a year. 1 being nationals, and the other being the meet you qualify for nationals at. The whole attitude for us is laxed, honestly.

Pampered: to treat with extreme or excessive care and attention.
Aint no one giving extreme or excessive care/attention in D3.
D1 - meals, tutors, gear, trainer, massages, pick academic schedule before general population
D3 - take an ice bath at home, see you tomorrow

Only on letsrun do you see an up and coming runner after a break out race get diminished like this.
Back to mom's basement, troll!
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
