Not sure why, but yes, good observation.

If you have a problem with it, take it up with the NCAA. Or practically every other university

Is Lehigh even D1? Not sure what nationality, but you can't be a moron and go to Lehigh, so I'd guess she's from the USA.
She is and she was a d1 all American in cc 2 seasons ago. What's your point?
Top 5 runners - 4 foreigners, three transfers (including the only American). Of the nine that ran in the elite race 2 are from the US, 1 is from a US territory and the other 6 are from abroad. The NCAA as a whole is about 10%, so yeah, you are an outlier and not the rule. They aren't even trying to recruit / develop domestic talent. It is reminiscent of the Arkansas programs of the late 80s / early 90s. They won a lot, but nobody respected the fact that BYU dominated a race today with 4 guys from one high school in Utah and 1 from Colorado (There 1st and 5th would only be 5th yr seniors even including mission time). Michigan State won a national championship a few years back with a scoring team entirely from the state of Michigan. So don't say there isn't enough domestic talent available (there is no better place to recruit domestic talent than in the mountain region that you are a part of, it is the Rift Valley of the US). Oh yeah, and the CU team that beat you, can anyone even tell me when was the last time that they had a foreign runner on their cross country team (the last I can remember was like ten years ago when they had a student from Mexico who was doing study abroad, but I am pretty sure he was not recruited and was not on scholarship). Beyond that, maybe Mark Scrutton. Say what you want about it, it is pathetic.
Yes, let the hate flow through you. Come to the dark side.
Holy crap chill out! Whether you like it or not, kelati is a not a foreigner first of all. she's been In the states through HSand was a recruit just like every one of the cu girls.
Yes, lobo ladies will rock once #5 gets on board. They have the potential to go sub-50 points again at ncaas. I love their recruiting strategy, and would do exact same if I was coach of UNM. ABQ is a great place to train, and eventually top domestic kids will seek UNM in order to train with the best.
Pathetic? I think not. Joedirt is pathetic, and deluded, if he thinks Wetmore would have turned away Kurgat if she had wanted to go to CU. Good young runners outside US don't even approach CU due to non-inclusive rep they have built over the years.
I love domestic runners being one myself, but think it makes everyone better when the best runners in the world choose to compete in NCAAs
CU may have won by a few points yesterday, but UNM def seems to have more upside. I think Kelati and Prouse will close the gap with Alice Wright by November. I can see their top 4 scoring less than 25 pts at NCAAs, so if they can get a #5 somewhere in the ballpark, it would be lights out for rest of NCAA. However, I admit that might be a big IF.
Nah, my money is on Colorado. They get so much better as the season wears on. Edna Kurgat may win NCAAs though. The coaching must have been lousy at Liberty. She is running so much better at New Mexico it is not even funny.
The problem people have with the team out there, is that it is a collection of established runners, no development whatsoever. Each year they add a couple of 5th year types and a foreigner or two and like instant oatmeal, you have team.
From what I hear, they often practice on their own, the coach stays out of the way and lets them do their thing. Hard to take pride in that.
But being a guy from Michigan, we love "instant oatmeal" teams starting with the Fab Five in hoops! Yes, Michigan had a really hard time taking pride in that!
BTW, I think Alice Wright has been with UNM all 4 years. Kelati has been recruited as a freshman, and so will also be there for 4 years (I hope). Doesn't exactly look "instant" to me. Plus, say in a few years they get Allie O to transfer to UNM for her 5th year and win an XC championship. I don't think they would have a hard time taking pride in that.
Good, it's all about winning, which is fine. Go for it.
Just, not about taking pride in development, because it isn't what takes place there.
Call it managing, not coaching.

This is exactly it. It's just athlete management.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
