I would love to be the first girl from my school ever to run sub-19 in the 5k for cross country. I didn't start running until sophomore year, and ran just under 24:00 for the 5k. Junior xc I got close to 21 flat. I had a great track season this past season and broke 12 (just barely) in the 3200 which gave me a lot of confidence. I have been running by far the highest mileage of my life since summer started (I built up to over 50 miles a week - my team is super low-mileage so 50 is a lot for me). I've done mostly easy mileage this summer and rarely run under 8 minute pace comfortably, which worries me. I ran just under 20:00 in a road race this past week and felt like I could have run a little faster, but not much. Does taking off another minute in the next 3 months (especially once speedwork during the season starts) seem reasonable?
