Just Say No!
If that fails, lock 'em up! You have to put someone in all of those jails the US is building!
Great idea! Let's get all those Trump voters in prison where they belong!
Oh, and 4/10.
Worst drug epidemic since, who knows when?
Meanwhile, AG Jeff Sessions wants to end medicinal MJ. Good idea!
Thanks, Trump!
I'm a gay/trannie.
Criminalizing opioids would created a million new jobs for Americans.
Opioids are way over prescribed. Our state's Attorney General (Republican by the way) is rightly going after pharmaceutical companies who are more than partly responsible for this epidemic.
Individuals would do well to stay away from them following surgery. Just because a doctor prescribes it doesn't mean you need to take it. Doctors will tell you that extra strength versions of OTC pain meds work just as well for most people and don't give you serious constipation like the opioids do.

It's because opioids are viewed as a white person's drug. Unlike with crack cocaine you don't have any of these tough on crime politicians calling opioid users super predators, etc.
Instead they are treating it as a public health issue and talking about how we need to help these people suffering from addiction.
It's crazy that some Republicans in the Senate want to spend $45 BILLION in taxpayer dollars on opioid addiction to placate red state senators.

What happened to tough on crime? All they need is to spend enough money to buy barbed wire to put all the opioid users in concentration camps busting rocks.
That's great! You are paying for the court and prison costs, right?

I hate to say it but Flagpole nailed it here. Stop prescribing them like they are an aspirin and a lot of the problem takes care of itself. Big Pharma with the help of doctors are almost completely to blame for this "epidemic".

I hate it even more (the fact that Flaghole is right) on many accounts. But I knew Opioids had reached critical mass when another drug, called Movantix, moved in to treat the chronic constipation that opioids routinely cause. And it is prescribed for constipation caused by opioid use for *non-cancer pain*
This is big big money, but not only because the opioids are *over-prescribed*. They are also available on the street, online, in the bathroom and at schools.
God bless America!

Opioids are lifesavers for people with life altering diseases that cause chronic pain. This is what they were developed for and they serve a great need for people with late stage cancer.

The opioid crisis is not caused by people with late-stage cancer.

My friend, this does not go nearly far enough. See what I am doing in my great country, the Philippines.
Not saying that doctors and big pharma aren't responsible in a major way for the epidemic...
however at some people have to take some responsibility and want to stop using drugs. Your doctor can't stop you from buying heroin and oxycodone off the street or from 'doctor shopping' for opioids.
I get threatened by patients all the time demanding opioids for their 'chronic back pain' but I refuse to prescribe them. The patients don't come back to see me. However many providers give in, afraid the patient will give them low satisfaction ratings or worse, physically assault them.
The keys to ending the epidemic are:
-Doctors need to cut back prescribing opioids dramatically for chronic pain (e.g. Noncancer pain)
-Get rid of big pharma's chronic pain lobby and relentless pushing of opioids (good luck!)
-patients need to accept that chronic pain is a part of life and that opioids are not the answer.
-get help for those addicted. However if they have no desire to quit, no one can help them.

Exactly!
You got pain? Sucks to be you.
Using marijuana to treat chronic pain is a better option than opioids.

Trump does not drink alcohol or do drugs, so if they are trying to emulate Trump, they would not do it.
Drugs are an escape, and by making America Great Again, people will have no need to escape as everything will be wonderful, I predict by 2025 An American who uses illigal drugs will be rarer than people who are over 7 feet tall.
I'm glad someon is finally seeing the lihgt on this issue. It's all about incentives, and peolpe will not do drugs if they no it might land them in jail.
I also wonder why we dont hear more talk like this about people who abuse asbestus. Absestos users are a huge drain on the medical system, and if we didnt reward people who choose that type of lifeslyte with free housing in a hospital responsble citizens could get the health care they need
