You're reading too much into these comments, in my opinion.
From the extreme of those physically disabled to those with natural body types that aren't conducive to running, there are many without the physical traits needed to be a good runner. That's the point. Be self-reflective about it and realize it's a privilege that not everyone has. Just because someone uses religion as their conduit to this self-reflection doesn't mean that you have to. And just because you don't use religion as your conduit doesn't mean that others are wrong using it as theirs.
