I was wondering, I was the 2nd fastest freshman before being injured. 1st freshman ran a 5-flat, I ran 5:25, third guy ran sub 5:40 all indoor miles. I was probably in better shape than I was dueing XC. Did 35mpw for a while then bumped up to 40-45mpw for a couple weeks leading to that race.
I took 6-7 weeks off with some crosstraining. My resting hr went from like 40bpm to 55bpm.
My question is, do you think I could still be faster than the third guy? I'm scared I'll fall behind and not even be any good. Has this injury set me back forever, since everybody else has about 6 weeks of extra (mostly interval track work) training on me?
For example, yesterday 1st and 3rd guy ran a 9:00 1 1/2 tempo. So 6/mi pace. Not insane. How long do you guys think it will take me to get back to that kind of shape?
I prob wont race outdoor track season, just focus on getting in really good shape for XC. Can I get back in the workouts and be beating that third kid? I'm gonna slowly build mileage back to 35 then ramp up w/ summer of malmo eventually before summer XC starts.
